A lot of what I’ve seen is the GMs’ vest and tie match the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and the groom’s vest and tie match the color of the bride’s dress.  However, this is your wedding…do whatever pops your toaster!

So my guys all wore their vests, ties, and Converse for the wedding. They had on ties and Converse to match the bridesmaids and black vests while McHusband had on a fuschia vest, tie, and bright pink Converse. I loved the way it looked. I don’t have a “normal” picture of everyone, but here’s one of our fun ones:

maybe have the groomsman wear black (or whatever color their suits are) vests with blue ties and then have the groom in an ivory vest and tie. i think that’s a fairly traditional look for the bridal party without being too overly matchy matchy. (i’m not even having my girls wear the same dress so i’m admittedly not super into the whole matching thing)

I also think that the groom should be in an Ivory vest/tie if you want him to stand out. I’ve often seen GMs vests matching the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. Since your dresses are blue, it would look nice (i’m not a fan when the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are hot pink so the Groomsmen are in hot pink vests and ties).

You could also have the Groomsmen in dark vests to match their suits and then ties in blue. That always looks sharp.

I always like it when the guys match the girls a bit.

I think it’s cute when the guys and the girls match, three of my bm’s are wearing purple and three are wearing green so all the guys will be in green vests and my fi will be in a white vest and my uncle who is walking me down the aisle will have a purple vest.

If you want to match the groomsmen’s colors with the bridesmaids, just stick to matching tie colors–not vests.  In my opinion, matching the vest color to the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress is too matchy-matchy and looks like prom.

@miss ocean state: Thanks! I think that was McHusband’s idea, but I don’t remember. I just loved that his were a different color so he really stood out.
