Okay, we are having a mountain wedding. Kinda rustic, but more outdoorsy than anything. (although the reception is inside lol). MY Fiance doesn’t like cake, so we are having an assortment of pies (I used to bake pies, wedding cakes etc…), but wanted to have some cupcakes as well to those who do like cake. But I have also seen some awesome cookies, and since we are in the mountains I wanted to have some smore’s either as favors or as a little smore’s candy buffet. Is this too much? How much is too much, keep in mind, our favors— cuz’ they may be edible as well, just not sure what. Hmmm…. what do you think?

I’m in the same boat you are! Fiance and I are not big cake fans, so we are having a doughnut wedding cake! But his grandmother makes one of our favorite desserts (peaches and creme), my mother makes world stopping Pumpkin Rolls, and I have a close friend who has a cookie business – So I want to have some of her cookies also. So we are right now looking at 4-5 different “sweet” choices, but since dessert is our favorite, I’m going to have as many as I want! = )

If you’re going to be making all of these tastey treats by yourself I would say just go with pies and cupcakes, but if you’re getting help or having them made by someone else I would say the more the merrier…it’s a party so they should enjoy!!!

I like it when there are a lot of choices and variety. As long as you can handle making/arranging for everything, have it all.

I’ve even see people have light menu and do heavy desserts. Or even just do a dessery reception. Obviously, that depends on the time of the day. I think it will make your reception unique if you have a desserts bar or even a s’mores bar. However, haven’t you seen how adorable s’mores favors are?! I’m sure you have 😉 But I say go for the assorted dessert bar and have fun little cards introducing them. I guarantee people will love it because they are sure to get not only something but multiple things to try (versus just the standard cake and nothing else which some people may not eat to begin with).

I’m doing cake pops as favours, a mousse cake thing for dessert, and ice cream sundae bar a bit after dessert…. I love sweets! I’d be in heaven at a wedding with all those options.

There is no such thing as too much dessert in my book.

I am biased because I think I’m having like 6 dessert stations – the more options the better!!

I love desserts so the more the merrier I think. If you are having cookings and cupcakes I think I would do them in the mini size to allow guests to try everything
