Just a warning that this might get kind of lengthy…
When I started planning what I wanted to use for our centerpieces, I was under the impression that we would either have lilac colored tablecloths or overlays. So I ended up purchasing white lanterns and white picture frames. We will also have clear vases with white and lilac colored tulips with just a tiny bit of yellow and greenery. However, we are now only having the white tablecloths because the only place in town to rent the linens from didn’t have the right color (one was too dark of a purple and what they called lilac looked pink to me). So I’m already a bit worried about what all of that white on top of a white tablecloth is going to look like.
Now, we rented a set of “doors” to use as our backdrop/altar. They are white with lace curtains. Here’s how it was set up in the store:
That particular flower arrangement in the center of the two doors was very expensive to rent (and not even the right colors, so it’d probably have been more expensive to have one made with the correct colors) so we ended up making our own smaller version of that. These are the flowers we used – two large white hydrangeas, two lilac hydrangeas, and some smaller white flowers on either side with pearl picks. Here’s kind of an idea of what it looks like (this was just us looking at it/holding it up in the store, it looks a lot better now that we have finished it.. I just don’t have a picture of the finished product):
So my other concern is this: in the store, they had the floral arrangement at the top but they also had floral arrangements on either side (in front of the windows). These were in stands that were just standing in front of the windows. They are made with the same flowers that are in the center floral arrangement.
Like I said, we ended up making our own arrangement for the center. I would like to kind of replicate how it looks in the store picture but the flowers were kind of expensive (and I feel they need to be kind of cohesive). The problem is that the store is out of town and my wedding is THIS SATURDAY and I’m not sure I will be able to make it back before then (and even if I did, not sure I’d have time to make the arrangements…).
This is what we are actually renting – just the doors and the curtains (not any of the flowers that may be seen in this picture):
So my question is: does it seem like too much white? Particularly up at the altar? My dress is white. I realize the pastor (dressed in black) and the groom (in gray) will be up there too but I just have a hard time picturing things. I want my pictures to come out good also. I’m more concerned about this than the tables but I would like advice on both. Thank you in advance!
