My Fiance was FLOORED and has not stopped talking about how breathtaking I looked, and how perfect it is for our venue.

That right up there ^ that’s what’s important. Not your age and not someone else’s opinion of your age and what they think you should do.

Otherwise I would say the dress is beautiful and if you end up feeling uncomfortable after you mull it over you can always try to a full a-line so it gives the in-between look of a ballgown and a more simple silhouette.

What a gogeous dress! Why, nobody is too old for a ballgown because that’s what weddings are for, to dress up like a bride!

It would be fun if you added a poll…

From another Encore Bride… may I say… Welcome to WBee

Like you when I started looking for a dress, I seriously thought that as an Encore Bride “of a certain age” that I would (should) be looking for something quite conservative… perhaps a nice Suit, or a Mother of the Bride type Gown.

Fortunately, when I was GOOGLING for such info, I landed here on WBee.

And I’ve discovered something great… BEING IN LOVE AGAIN is something worthwhile being proud of

It seems that somewhere in the timeframe since my first wedding (circa 1980) it is now totally acceptable to celebrate the fact that one has found love again (be that because of a Divorce or Death).  EVERYONE is entitled to a re-do without judgement (lol, of course by time number 3, 4, 5, or 6… ala Elizabeth Taylor, the BIG White Wedding does start to look tacky and a bit “dated” on the Bride)

So honey, embrace your Inner Bride, and have the Wedding you want… go as big or as little, formal or as casual as you desire.

Personally, my own vision has gone from this

PHOTO – J.Kara – Mother of the Bride Gown (from Nordstrom)

    To this…

PHOTO – Rivini *Lisette* – Wedding Gown (I’ll be doing a custom-fitted knock-off by an Off-Shore Bridal Shop… and as it is custom-made, I am able to make any changes I want… to make it more to my personality / body-type.  I can even change the colour of the satin sheath underneath if I wish)

I truly LOVE it because it is sooo different from my first wedding gown, and I think it’ll look great for our Elopement to a Destination Wedding overlooking the beach, and then later when we get back home, I can wear it again for our Back-Home Reception with Friends and Family, and look gorgeous.

    Hope this helps,

PS… Love your dress choice… it is absolutely STUNNING !!  And I hope to see you round the WBee Boards more often… lol, so many great ideas and info on this Website for ALL Brides.

@baroness:  Wear it! it definetley has some old hollywood vibe and I think it never goes out of style, I don’t think age is a factor here at all, the dress is beautiful and elegant.

PS: It’s lovely your Fiance commented about it, then you know it’s the perfect dress.

I’m an encore bride with 3 children and will be 44 by the time of the wedding. Wear what you and your FH love…that’s it. We’ve been around long enough to know that we can wear/do what we want. My though is if you don’t like it then don’t come…I’d rather spend the money having someone there that is happy for us!

And this is my ball gown!

I can hardly wait to see you in the dress… is that you in the picture or a model?

@Luayne:  I can hardly wait to see you in this dress! Not very many brides would be bold enough to wear this one with all the purples and blues!
