Okay, I took a chance on a seller on Ebay. He has VERY little custom dress reviews, but the ones he has are very good (in german, so I had to have a Bridesmaid or Best Man translate.. lol) I think we read over 15, but for ebay thats not alot. The rest of his stock is these little purses he sells for a buck or two. (Had two negitive dress reviews… one was the person couldnt find where to put size?? and the other was it took 6 weeks, when their website states 45-50 days)
I had my step dad look it over, and see if I should even attempt. He has been an ebay seller since I was young. He said this guy could be one of two things: new, and trying to gain his reputation, or scandalous. He wrote the guy an email for me asking some questions I wouldnt think of asking. One was, why does he go more than a week without posting any auctions. THe responce was because he only takes on orders as he finishes others, and is not selling the purses anymore. Good explination, sounds logical.
Another question my step dad asked was, would we be able to get it within 45 days (their normal is 45-50) He explained we wanted it in our hands by the 45th day, and if not we would be too late for the wedding have have to ask for a refund. The store told us no problem. I was confused, because my wedding isnt until 9.10.11
I guess if we dont get our product before the allowed time, as long as we have proof, we can get our money back no problem through paypal, ebay, or my credit card, and if not, it would be harder and HOPE my credit card company works with us.
SO I took a leap. He had some no reserve auctions mixed in, and I bid on a dress I thought was pretty when one was advailable. Most were going for pretty cheap, because like most of us, we do research and dont like low feedback. I bid about $50, and got it for $46!!!! Shipping included!!
In addition, I emailed my measurements, and asked if he could change a few things about it. It was pretty, but a little “much”. He said no, he couldnt change a design with out doing a custom listing, except color and accents (most were about $115) BUT he would change my listing to a different dress he had listed or past listed!!! I was THRILLED because the exact one I wanted was there!! ( I liked his honesty)
I told him I would rather NO sequins (dont mind them, but that would be ALOT of sequins) but if it comes with them I have a friend who makes costumes and can fix it for me.
Now, if it turns out perfect, I may switch it for my dress I have, if its okay I will use it for a TYD shoot, and if its terrible or never get it, I will get my money back no problem.
Ill let you know how it goes, but I am so excited!!
