Took my dress in for my first fitting and whlle pinning the bustle the alterations person pinned himself and got blood on my dress. Unfortunatly he didn’t realize this right away and got blood in 2 or 3 places. He aplogized and said he would have it cleaned but I’m concerned about how they will get it out, my dress is silk. Also I’m not even sure I want him to do the alterations now.
What do I do? Do I still leave the dress with him? Do I ask him to pay for the cleaning? Do I ask him for a new dress? I don’t know I’m pretty upset.

I am so sorry that’s happened to your dress! IMO, I would take it to a cleaner that you trust and have your alterations person pay for the cleaning.

I think you should calm down it is no big deal. I am sure they will be able to fix it.

He’ll get it fixed and pay for it I am sure. I don’t think it’s a big deal at all and am sure they will be able to get it out.

I would find a good cleaner and verify with the alterations person that he will pay. Then I’d call the cleaners and verify that they can get blood out of the dress. You’ll need to tell them the exact fabric, whether there are embellishments near the blood, how much blood there is, etc. If the cleaner says it’s not possible, then you need to start talking about a replacement.
This sucks and is probably a headache, but don’t panick until you hear from the cleaners.

He should be able to clean it for you. I read that this kind of thing happens in alteration rooms (which we hardly see/know) and they have the way to clean wedding dresses like they’re never got any blood/stain on them.

I’m sure he’ll be able to clean it – this kind of thing happens all the time! Also, I think it’d be safe to still do alterations with him (unless there’s some other issue with his performance). It’s not like he meant to stick himself with a needle and wiped it off on your dress – accidents happen.

I agree I would let them take care of the cleaning. If they offered to clean it, and something goes wrong with the cleaning, they will be directly responsible and will have to order you a new dress or refund you completely. If you take it to a third party cleaner and soemthing happens, they might turn the responsibilty to you for going somewhere else.
But Im SURE stuff like that happens a lot. I wouldn’t stress too much! At least it is your first fitting, so there is still time!
