Have a giant flashy ring that you would wear forever, or a giant flashy dress that you will wear once?
Where do you think you and your SO will be putting the majority of the money for one or the other of these items? Or, do you have something else you’d like to open for debate?

My ring is 0.6 ct (.93 total) so not tiny but not large or flashy either. My dress was a $600 sample of a discontinued style. Both are just what I happened to fall in love with when I was in the market for a ring/dress.
If I had to choose between an expensive ring or dress, I would choose the ring. There are beautiful wedding dresses at lots of different price points. With rings, you mostly get what you pay for, but I don’t think I’ve seen any really expensive gowns that were noticeably more beautiful to me than more moderately priced dresses.

I chose minimalist – I truly don’t care what ring SO picks out, it’s the symbolic and sentimental value that matters. And want to have a more casual, fun wedding, so nothing too elaborate in the dress department. I like to put $$$ toward fun things- so a family vaca would be where I’d put the money.

Neither were big or flashy for me but if I had to choose I would choose the ring because you get way more use out of that!

I’m a minimalist. He let me pick out my ring and logically, I can’t spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on a dress…not going into debt over a wedding, so my dress was only $145

In reality, I would have to say neither because of budget. However, if budget were not an issue, I would totally get the nicer ring because you get to see/wear that every day, not just one day.

Well, I have the giant flashy ring – which is more my taste than a flashy dress.

I don’t need anything flashy, but my boyfriend and I have discussed investing more in the ring since jewelry is a better investment than clothing or anything else happening that day (in our opinion) and the rings have to last till we die and hopefully possibly longer so we have something to pass down to our kids.

I would rather just save money for a house or honeymoon, and would marry my bf with no ring and wearing jeans if I had to. But between a ring and dress- definitely the ring.

I do not like giant and flashy rings no matter what the cost. However, I would totally prefer to invest more in the ring than the dress. To hell with the dress.lol Shucks, as long as people can tell I’m the bride, that’s all I need.

The ring. It surprises me when bees say they are spending less on the ring specifically to spend more on the wedding day. To me the wedding is just one fun day, the ring I see and love every day forever.

The dress. I honestly hate stones larger than .25, so my ring needs are very cheap. To be honest though, the dress that I want is still very close to the price of the ring I want.
