That dress has a fun detail on the back, so I’d go short or long. An elbow or fingertip veil will compete with the details.

I always love birdcage veils, but I think they go best with vintage-inspired dresses. Since your dress has a pretty modern silhouette, I would personally stick to traditional veils. I think an elbow-length veil would be too busy right where the details on the bodice and back of your dress fall, so I would avoid elbow-length since you want to highlight the details, and not hide them or distract from them. So I would stick to a fingertip length or cathedral length tulle veil, whichever is your preference – because I think both would look great with your dress! A cathedral length veil would be really beautiful and dramatic, that would probably be my first choice, so I voted for that 🙂
But if you are in love with birdcage veils, then by all means you should wear one!

@MsVoyageur: yeah thats my issue, is that its not anywhere near a vintage inspired dress, guess thats why im so uncertain. and i probably will go with a cathedral length, after all im only wearing it for the ceremony and a few pictures. glad to finally hear someone say it, i think i just needed to hear it, my mom and bridesmaids all thought the fingertip length look best, but i never did get to try on a cathedral length one, and i agree something at anywhere near mid length would compete with the details on the back… ok i am convinced, i think?
weddings are so hard… cause you dont ever hope to have a redo.. so EVERYTHING has to be perfect.. eeek!

I think fingertip length would look fabulous 🙂

@MrsRayner: I know, it’s so hard to only have one shot!! But don’t worry about it, especially if you’re going to take it off after the ceremony!
