@oxllsamanthallxo:  I would agree with PP that you should either donate to an organization like Brides Against Cancer or to an organization that helps military spouses-to-be afford a wedding dress. But you also said money was tight, then I would definitely try to sell it online. I don’t really plan on keeping my wedding dress after I get married, I just don’t see the point unless I was planning to give it to my future daughter/neice. But bridal fashions change a lot so who knows if they would even want to wear the dress then! LOL 🙂 Do what is best for you with the dress. 🙂

@NAvery:  Whoa, thats actually a great idea!!! I’m keeping my dress and preserving it, no question… but if I did want to reuse it, this would be a wonderful thing to do!

I’m very against preserving it, because it takes up so much space and the chance of a daughter or daughter-in-law wearing it is so slim. Also I find it a bit depressing. When I first got engaged my mom pulled out her dress, not expecting me to wear it but just to try it on (I’m shaped exactly like she was at my age) and it was just…sad. All yellow, with holes in the lace and tears in the veil. It sounds silly but it was one of the most depressing things I’ve ever seen. Maybe partially because their marriage is a nightmare. But anyway.

What I plan to do is cut the dress in half and keep it as a mini dress. I’m wearing a fit-and-flare style, and my amazing tailor has already said he could do this and make it any length I want. I figure I can wear it for anniversaries for as long as it still fits. I also like the idea of making a christening gown or baby blanket out of it, but I’m not sure if we’ll be having kids.

My belief is that you should either remake it into something else or donate/sell it.

After letting my dress hang in the closet for a long time I decided to donated mine to Brides against Breast Cancer.  I say if you need the money sell it unless you have visions of a daughter wearing it when they get married.  Odds are they will want their own but I could be wrong.

Hope we helped you with your decision.

@NAvery:  I’ve also seen it sewn into pillow cases too.
