So my bridesmaids all love this dress but to be honest I feel it may a little too sexy and turn the attention towards them. I admit they have great bodies but can’t they be sexy any other day? Am I over-thinking this?
However, this was more of what I had in mind. Not to sexy for church and flattering for all body shapes. Should I just put my foot down and make them purchase my choice of dress?!
Ahh! I don’t wanna be mean. What would you do?

The top dress looks like something you’d wear to a club…it doesn’t really look like a wedding appropriate dress.

Hmmm…I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I don’t think it’s so much the STYLE of dress that makes it too sexy, but the gold color. Maybe go with the first style, but in the purple color instead?

Personally I’d tell them the shiny fabric won’t photograph well because it doesn’t.

@A Paper Proposal: Maybe I should have mentioned we’re doing purple dresses with silver shoes.

I’ve been to weddings where the BM’s look so hot, they take the focus from the bride. It is YOUR decision, I’d go with the second one, I completely see where you’re coming from.

I’d definitely tell them you want them in the second one.

I think the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses should be not-so-flashy. I dont think youre being ridiculous–you’re right, it’s YOUR day, not theirs. That gold one is too flashy for a wedding, i think. You should be able to have the ultimate decision, because it’s your wedding. If they don’t like it and have something to say, maybe you want a new Bridesmaid or Best Man…. 🙂

I would personally pick the 2nd one over the 1st any day, for ANY occasion. Practically speaking though, is the 1st dress still as shine-tastic in purple? As @blg529: said, it won’t photograph well and might end up looking distinctly UNflattering in all your photos.

The second one is more flattering and more wedding-appropriate. Just tell them the style of the gold dress doesn’t fit your wedding.
Also, you say they have great bodies, but a shiny, bunched-up dress is not flattering on anyone, including the model.

I personally don’t like either. I hate all aspects of the top dress and I hate the top part of the second dress. Macy’s and Dillard’s have some gorgeous dark purple dresses.
Can you find something else?
