Here’s my $0.02 — take it with a grain of salt! πŸ™‚ I’m an 18/20, but seem to be somewhat shaped like you — carrying the weight in my tummy and hips.

I voted for the Torrid white voile because they know how to design for plus-sized ladies, but I think that the first DB dress you posted would also be very nice. Both the cuts and the cotton fabric of those two will be flattering, and will be breathable. I think they’d also be darling for a summer wedding, and yet not SO formal that you can’t go out to eat anywhere afterwards and get “WTF” attention as opposed to “oh my god, she looks so cute!” attention.

Since you love the idea of color so much, but also seem to want to have a white dress experience, I would recommend getting a cute cardigan and accessories (especially shoes!) in a color that you love and know that you’ll wear again. A cardi layer will also keep you from worrying about spilling on the white dress or what have you. πŸ™‚

My experience with sheath dresses is that they don’t look good on my curvy figure. (Better for big busted, small hipped ladies.) Same with charmeuse, which is a beautiful flowy fabric, but highlights every lump and bump on my figure. Finally, the DEB shop one seems like the fabric is not a very good quality.

I wore dress #1 as a bridesmaid just a few weekends ago. Very cute and comfy but it collects every piece of dust/hair/lint and wrinkles very easily. Love #5! I agree that some bright colored shoes would look great! You can find a big “statement” necklace as well.

I chose the longer dress, #2 option, I feel that it may give you more of the “bride” feeling that you’re looking for. I would suggest an empire waisted dress, or a dress with a belt to emphasize the smallest part of your body. You need to vend something that you will be comfortable in all night and that also flatters your figure. If you’re looking for that pop of colour, I would agree with the pp on the coloured shoes or cardigan. I understand you’re within a strict budget, but there are a lot of dresses out there that would make you feel beautiful, don’t stop the search until you have found it! Good luck!

I think either of the Torrid dresses would be adorable! And I agree with doing colored shoes, that would be perfect! I also think that you could totally wear a bird cage veil, why not?! It will make you feel more like a bride without being over the top and will fit in well with the shorter dresses.

    Hello πŸ™‚

I commented on your other post a little while ago and I don’t think I was much help. Sorry!

I just wanted to say that I think you look beautiful in the dress you posted so I’m voting number 5. It gives you a nice defined waist. I think it’s not over the top that it’ll make you uncomfortable about being in a restaurant but it’s still special. The coloured cardie and shoe option is nice. I wore black shoes and a black sash with my dress because I wanted colour but still a ‘bridal’ feel.

I also think you should totally rock the birdcage veil and it’d look awesome with the torrid dress! No matter what you wear you’ll have a fantastic day. I had dress issues and honestly didn’t give a damn as soon as I was holding my DH’s hands and saying ‘I do”.. Best of luck!

I think my favorite of those options is actually the Target dress.

You have nice shoulders and I think you should emphasize that. I think a one shoulder would work great for that.

As for giving you a “baby bump”, I guess that’s a possibility for any dress that hits right under the bust–Spanx it up.

@ItsAmandaYall:  You look ADORABLE! Love it. By The Way, if you do want some sort of “foundation garment” (not saying that you need one, but you were worried about the tummy area) — I know that Spanx are very popular, but I find them SO uncomfortable, and rather expensive. I have found that Lane Bryant/Cacique’s full coverage cotton briefs suck in and smooth my tummy area comfortably, rather than in a way that produces “muffin top” like pantyhose, Spanx and other nylon stuff can do. Plus they’re nice and breatheable! My dress isn’t very clingy, but I will be rocking a pair of them on my wedding day for the best balance between control and comfort. πŸ™‚
