I love the Oscar dress much more than the Gemma, it’s got cleaner lines and it’s more timeless IMO. You can add a belt to it to give it more bling. The Gemma silhoutte is much tougher to pull off, it really does look better on taller brides unfortunately because of the proportions of the skirt. I also find that it photographs oddly at times because from a distance the skirt can look like…toilet paper.

bridemeup:  Wow they are both so beautiful. The Oscar seems more forgiving and I love the layering at the bottom and the shap of the bodice at the top. The Vera seems like you’d need a specific shape to really pull it off. Did you get to try on a mermaid style? I think the Oscar would be more comfortable.

Stick with your dress! It’s gorgeous! Gemma is beautiful but sooo many brides have worn gemma. And i agree with the other bees, the bodice is very sleek and straight so its a lot of pressure to have the right body type. BUT, if for some reason you feel like you’ll die without gemma, and it’s really close to your wedding day, theres soooo many of them out there discouted on preowned sites. Your dress is sooo unique and you’re right about the material, it’s amazing. What was It about the gemma that made you start regretting your Oscar?

Have you tried on a mermaid dress? I couldn’t even walk in the one I tried on… You’ll be more comfortable in the Oscar.

bridemeup:  You need to stop looking at other dresses that is what you need to do.

bridemeup:  Do you have a picture of yourself in both dresses? It sounds like you haven’t tried the Vera Wang Gemma dress yet.

Is there a way for you to find the Gemma dress and try it on? You might not like it in person. I think that’s the only way you’ll get it out of your head for sure.

I personally don’t like the Gemma. It’s very trendy right now. A lot of brides have worn it and I honestly think the whole style of it will be “out” in a couple years. The ODLR is timeless and classic.

Oh man I am drooling over that Oscar. The Vera has been done so many times (and SO MANY dresses have the same look) that it doesn’t seem like anything special.
