Greece! I so want to go there
Greece! I so want to go there
Focusing on island hopping might even be in the budget! I did Athens in a day and a maybe a half and didn’t feel like I missed anything, I hit all the major sights comfortably and then some. Especially if you visit some of the lesser-known islands like Paros and Naxos, you can save some bank to splurge on Mykonos and Santorini. 🙂 Maneuvering the ferry system is easier than I thought it would be, and as of a few years ago, you could even pre-buy ferry tickets online.
Thank you all so much for the feedback, it’s given me a lot to think about! The only downside is, you guys are almost as divided as I am on the issue haha! I tried to post a poll but I don’t think it worked.
Actually on second thought, there’s a lot more pro-Greece comments! I’m not surprised, it’s hard for the Dominican to stand up against somewhere as incredible as Greece. But I still agree with everything said about the advantages of an AI!! We need to decide sooooooon!!!
Anyone out there choose one or the other and regret it?
I’m voting for relaxation. I have never understood honeymoons that try to pack so much into the trip…. Almost like a whirlwind with no time to actually sit back and enjoy your new hubby/wife.
What are you most looking forward to on your honeymoon? Relaxing and having a good time? Or seeing tons of different places?
Greece. If you want to go there and he’s willing, it will be a new adventure you share together!
I voted Greece! If it helps New Zealand is about a 30 hour flight from Greece so yours will be nothing compared to that!!! To me it seems just a short flight away! And Greece is sooo relaxing anyway if that’s what you’re after.
So I voted for there.
@nzbride3: +1 Coming from someone who went to Greece after enduring a journey over 24 hours long and still managed to climb to the top of Lykabettos Hill the very next day despite the jet lag, I can tell you that it is survivable and WORTH IT!
I loved spending time in Greece and would go back in a heart beat.
I voted Greece since you’ve already been to Punta Cana and Greece sounds like an amazing experience 🙂
I voted Greece– but you can go MUCH further with your money (and adventure) if you look into island hopping and not staying at a resort–SOOO many inexpensive guesthouse/apartment/hotel options. Unbelievably beautiful. I did this last summer– 3 Greek islands (specifically Dodecanese) and Turkey for 10 days for definitely under 1000 euros for both of us including everything (accomodation, ferries, food, excursions, lots of drinks, souvenirs, etc- even a plane ticket back to Germany). We didn’t stay at the fanciest of hotels or anything, but still the best vacation of my life in the most beautiful places–also with amazing company of my Fiance and some friends. We liked having a mix of adventuring, laying on a beach, eating amazing food, and exploring. It takes a little more researching and planning than an all-inclusive, but totally worth it in my opinion. I have been to Punta Cana also at an all-inclusive–and it was awesome for relaxing!–but I vote that your honeymoon is a good ‘excuse’ to try something new 🙂 Have an amazing time!!!!
You have your whole life to relax on vacation, but I feel like limited opportunities to adventure, so I’d lean adventure for a memorable honeymoon. Also, adrenaline can be rationalized wrongly by your brain as excitement about the person you’re with instead of what’s happening around you, so adventure can give you VERY lovey feelings.
@buzzer713: If it’s not too much to ask, I would love some information on how you planned your trip! (places you stayed, how and when you booked, how you got around). If you’d prefer, feel free to PM me! But it would be so helpful to hear how you did it! I backpacked across Europe a few years ago so I am familiar with planning that style of trip, but there’s so much going on right now, anything that would make it easier would be SO appreciated.
Greece! Plus – this is your honeymoon. I wouldn’t want to go on a trip to somewhere I’d already been before for my honeymoon. Go somewhere new for a new adventure together!
Greece has beaches etc too. We went to Hawaii and had some days where we did adventurous things (surfing, ziplining, etc) and some days when we did relaxing things (reading by the pool, couple’s massage, etc) and it was nice to do BOTH! I’ve been to Greece and the sightseeing is amazing and so are the relaxing beaches 🙂
