So today I went dress shopping with my mother, grandma, future mother-in-law and sister-in law.
Almost all of the dresses I tried on were ballgowns because thats something I feel would flatter my body. I have tried fit-and flare and it was just not working out. This experiance was so much better! SO anyways… My last gown I try on was my mothers pick. I thought it looked horrible on the hanger but tried it anyway and it was GORGEOUS! I felt so slim and comfortable. However the dress I had on just before that gave me the same feeling.
This is the first dress. Its a Allure 8957. I love it, but I feel like the poof is too big. I have this huge hoop underneath and I did not like walking in it. The attendant said that I had to wear it with this dress. I feel like the hoop overwhelmed me. Like I was wider then I am tall and thats saying something since I was on a pedestal! SO I guess one question would be, has any one not worn a hoop with this (or any) ballgown and was it difficult to walk in?
Now here’s the next one, it’s almost a cross between a fit and flare and an A-line. It looks soooo nice on and felt comfortable, though maybe that’s because it was closer to my size? BUt its mucch less skirt and less fussy which would suit our venue more…It’s also got a lots of sparkly beading which I like… but I feel like maybe it is just not ‘enough’ . I also do not like the belt and would likely replace it if I could.
Sooo, honest opinions? Anyone had a similar dilemma between two different styles? I”m hoenstly so torn…

I think the second one looks amazing on you.

Tough choice. I really think the shape of the ball gown flatters you! I also love the second dress (but I’m incredibly biased because I purchased that dress for myself in ivory)! Looking at the pictures again, if I had to choose for you, I would probably choose the ball gown. No advice about the hoop though. Part of the reason I went with the Karena Royale was because of how light and non-poofy it was!

I actually prefer the first one! Time a million.

I think you should add a poll – and I can see why you’re torn – they’re both amazing. THe second one shows off how nice your figure is, but it all depends on if you want that ballgown princess feel or not. I thought for sure I was getting a slim fit style, until I tried on a ballgown. The consultant told me if I couldn’t decide – to think about the fact that the only time in my life I could wear the big poufy dress was this day. I could wear a sexy mermaid or something like that any other time I wanted. That’s how I decided.
Also – instead of a hoop I had a seamstress add crinoline to the inside, so I won’t have to worry about the awkwardness of the hoop, and I still get the fullness. That way you can add as little or as much as you want.

I like the second dress if you can replace the belt. It’s got a really nice fit, it looks great on you, and it doesn’t overwhelm you. The first dress is pretty, but if you’re uncomfortable walking in it then don’t bother with it.

I really like the second one. I also agree that the belt that you are wearing isn’t the most complementary, but luckily that can be changed so easily! My vote is the second, but at the end of the day….which one can you see yourself getting married in?

I actually really love the first one on you! I love the poof.

The second one jumped out at me for you. It’s gorgeous!

I really like dress number two on you, I even like it with the dark sash it really shows off your figure!

I love the first on you, you are beautiful and stunning, and when do you think you will ever where a ballgown type dress again.
The second one is gorgeous on you also, flatters your figure, but lose the sash, maybe a belt that flatters the lace more then over powering it
And most of all does it make your dreams begin to come true……..

I love both on you… but if I had to pick you look more like a bride in the first one … if you pick the second one i’m with you on the sash pick somethng else ( maybe something that looks a bit more bridal … Bling maybe LOL )… Good Luck !

You guys are awesome! I have lots to think about. Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I always pictured myself in poof. Because like a couple of you said, when else do you get to wear that??? I will talk to the seamstress and see if we could do a crimoline instead. I do like the shape the other one gives me though. Dilemma still, but getting clearer! Thank you guys! I might try one more shop, but I’ll let you know what I decide.

They both look great but you look stunning in the ball gown!

I think they both look good on you. If you hate the hoop thing, than go with the second dress. You will not be happy if your not comfortable in the dress.
