I have a half-eternity channel set moissanite band from M&Co. LOVE it. My e-ring is also moissanite, but I’ve put the band next to friends’ rings that have diamonds and it looks just fine. Really can’t notice a difference.

You’ll hear every side of the story here – people who wanted to love moissanite and were disappointed, people who hate it out of principle, people who love it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine (and I could have had diamond, money wasn’t an issue).

I think if you haven’t seen moissanite in person and are doing a non-refundable order, you do need to be mentally prepared to possibly lose that money. What if you’re in that smaller subset that hate it?

But I LOVE it and have had it right next to diamond and it looked just fine.

@NAvery:  Does your ring outsparkle your friends’ diamond rings? Does it have lots of fire?

I don’t like the way moissanite looks usually, but perhaps in melee sizes, the double refraction could appeal to me.

I wouldn’t. I don’t think it would look right with a diamond center stone, and that’s especially true if you’re talking larger melee size.

I would do it. Moissy is indistinguishable from diamond at that size. If your solitaire is D-E-F you may want to reconsider though.

@rnbwaftrrain:  Hi!  I was in your position. I ordered a custom half eternity ring from Moissinatebridal.com….no returns.  based on all of the pictures I have seen, and everyone saying that stones that small would look fantastic – I went for the gusto and ordered it.

weeeelllllll…..it came in last night and the stones look like plastic.  it is horrible. I am now fighting with the company b/c technically I have no recourse, but I paid for the upgrade to FB, and they look cloudy and plastic.  Also the band does not exactly reflect the image I gave them or my CAD rendering.  I wish wish wish I ordered a regular ring and returned it first.

@MrsMRS:  I’m sorry you had an awful experience 🙁 I wanted a 5 stone ring to complement my engagement ring (which has a 6.5mm / 1 ct FB moissanite stone).

I wanted something that would fit between the rose gold “shoulders” on my ring. So, I ordered a 5 stone wedding band from moissaniteco.com and was worried about how the stones would look since I actually forgot to upgrade to FB stones. I contacted moissaniteco and they told me that the stones were small enough that I wouldn’t notice much of a difference. I got 4mm stones. Thankfully, the girl was right. I can’t tell the difference and they don’t look yellow next to my enhanced Forever Brilliant 1ct stone on my engagement ring.

Maybe you got a bad batch 🙁 Here are my rings together (I don’t have a proper shot yet – this was taken with my phone)

I say order the regular band and if you like the stones return it for the custom band.  I’ve only seen one moissy and was not impressed (however it did not come from a highly rated company) but I do own an asha and am extremely happy.

It is a very personal decision and the PP is right, you will get a ton of conflicting answers. Personally I would prefer to match diamonds with diamonds and moissanite with moissanite. I don’t mess with my OCD tendancies. Wink
