Hi T.O. and GTA Bees!
We are at the very early stages of planning but certain of two things:
1) The fabulous day in question will go down in Toronto
2) It will be a small group of around 50 guests – we are looking for an intimate venue to have both the ceremony and the part-eh. Ideally on a Friday night!
Where are you having your special day? Have you been to any weddings in TO in small intimate venues lately?
Which photographer are you going with? I really like the look of Oink and Coo (LOVE their name) http://oinkandcoo.ca/
Suggestions. Comments. Ideas. Queries. All welcome!
I should mention this entire wedding is going to be planned from the other side of the world with only 2 trips to Toronto between now and the wedding date…ya.

Graydon Hall Manor. You can do everything in one spot.

@MaryMacMerry: Paletta Mansion in Burlington is gorgeous – a little out of the city but it’s stunning, on the lake, perfect size for you and you could do everything in one spot.
Arts and Letters Club is adorable and right downtown – off Yonge Street.
Toronto Botanical Gardens, Steamwhistle, Distillery District
We’re having our wedding in Kleinburg/Vaughan at the McMichael Gallery
We’re using a photographer out of Hamilton, Moments by Melissa Miller.

@MaryMacMerry: We got married at the Old Mill Inn & Spa , and I can’t recommend it enough! They have a chapel or ‘wedding garden’ to host the ceremony (we used the chapel), their own in house officiant who was hilarious, and multiple rooms to choose from, whether you are having an intimate, small wedding, or a huge grand affair. Food was great, all our guests loved it.
The photographer we used is a fellow bee, @lorelai, and she is absolutely AMAZING!!!! Again, can’t recommend her enough, she is a total gem, definitely look into her work. Here is her website: Olive Photography – she was even featured on Style Me Pretty this year for one of her engagement shoots!

@MaryMacMerry: Are you on a budget?

@Baroness_Meg: *sigh* I love that place! We’re going there for Christmas dinner and I’ll definitely be scoping it out for other purposes. ^.^

@MaryMacMerry: My wedding is going to be ridiculously large (275 guests) so my venue suggestions may not be right for you, but Archeo in the Distillery is pretty and the right size! We went to an engagement party there this summer.
For Photographer, I’m using Corina V http://www.corinavphotography.com/index2.php#/home/ – she was reccomended by our planner, and we met last month and I really really liked her, and her portfolio etc.
When’s the wedding!?

@Baroness_Meg: I love, love, love the Old Mill. Your wedding must have been fabulous!
We were considering the Old Mill, but there aren’t enough guest rooms and logistically it wouldn’t work out for us. But it was fabulous.
We’re getting married outside Toronto at a ski resort. So our venue won’t help you.
Have you looked in the distillery district? There were a couple of venues I loved there, but they were too small for our numbers.
I also loved Sunnybrook Estates.
I’ve held events at Eglinton Grand, Atlantis, Fantasy Farm, Spirale. Not weddings, just formals/Christmas formals. They all have different feels and different pros/cons. But I couldn’t complain about any of them.

@MaryMacMerry: I have a few suggestions for photogs and they are all resonable price but give great quality photos. You can even customize tour package if you don’t want certain things in there to save money.
Check out my pics on wedding bee for my photog…and her site
Lost in Translation
I think this second one is updating her site so I have her fb page

Wow wow wow, you guys!! Thank you for all the responses!! I have a lot of interneting to do! I really really appreciate it. SO many fabulous suggestions.
@bjohannes: Holy cow, Graydon Hall Manor is stunning! I wonder if our little wedding might be too small for such a grand venue…
@MsGinkgo: Thanks for all the suggestions! Your venue will be stunning!!
@Baroness_Meg: The Old Mill looks so beautiful and I love that everything can go down in one place! How many guests did you have? Just took a peek at @lorelai‘s pics and websites – LOVE. Thanks for the tip!
@AngieLuvsAdam: That is big, how wonderful! Your photog looks fabulous, great choice. We are planning for April 15 2015 🙂 We have to start planning now because we will only be in TO twice between now and then. We aren’t technically engaged yet (he is still doing his thing with the ring – I’m in the dark!) but I have been given the green light to commence the planning so we are ready to see venues and meet photogs on our trip in a couple of months. A bit out of the normal order of things The Archeo looks FABULOUS. Very much the type of space we are envisioning for our Friday night wedding. Also, the Archeo led me to “The Loft” which looks like another fab option.
@sostobe: Again, such great suggestions. A lot of people have been pointing us towards the Distillery district and it really is filled with great options! A Feb. wedding at a ski resort – sounds heavenly!!
@KingsDaughter: Thank you so much for the photog suggestions. Your engagement pics are fabulous. Off I go to spend hours flipping through beautiful pics!!
@littlemiss604: I suppose I should have mentioned that to begin with! We are looking at spending around $15,000 for the whole shabang – the majority to be spent on food/drink/venue/photog as we will have no bridal party (one attendant each) and limited flowers (I’m going to throw together a wee bouquet of baby’s breath. No floral centerpieces etc.) I’m 28 but am an encore bride (I was very young and naive once) so not looking to be too “bridal” – I love the idea of a restaurant or a similar venue.
So far two top contenders that haven’t been mentioned are:
2nd Floor Events – 2ndfloorevents.com
Berkeley Field House – berkeleyfieldhouse.com

May! We are getting married in May…not April…haha you can tell its not real for me yet 🙂

We are getting married this summer in the Distillery District. The restaurant we picked is perfect because it holds a smaller crowd well while still having room for dancing and all that. We are having our ceremony on the patio and then the reception will be inside in the dining room/bar.
Our restauarant is Archeo but they have several venues to choose from there.
Also, we looked at pretty much every other comparable (in terms of size/feel) venue in downtown Toronto and Archeo seemed to have the best prices and services for what we were looking for.

Oh and for photography we are using M&M photos. They have been great so far and their prices/packages were very competitive.

@MaryMacMerry: We had approximately 70 guests. We had originally booked their Humber room, but it was quite small, and two months before the wedding, one of their larger ballrooms (Brule C) was still available, and they upgraded us at no charge!! You can see pictures of my wedding in my recap if you go to my profile 🙂
Also, my best friend got married at Archeo this summer, and that is a gorgeous venue as well! I think you have a lot of great options listed here! 🙂

@MaryMacMerry: We are getting married at the Heintzman House..we are having about 60 people and its beautiful its a mansion from the 1800s. You can do an outdoor and indoor ceremony…the only thing is that you have to get your own caterer however, they give you 4 caterers(for an amazing price) that have worked there tons of times that they really like
You get the entire house to yourself for the day, no other brides on site, and the top floor you get a room for the bride and a room for the groom with your own bathrooms
