Although we are doing a destination wedding, we are also having a reception in Toronto a couple months after we come home. We wanted to keep it small and were considering Canoe – it has great food and a beautiful view of the city! Unfortunately for us, their private dining room holds 64 and we want slightly more than that so our decision was to go with Sassafraz in Yorkville!

There are never any rental fees, just a food/drink minimum which is great! 🙂

We had our reception at Canoe. On weekends the entire restaurant is available for buyout and can accomodate over 100 people. Everybody loved it!

We had our reception at Estates of Sunnybrook in the main ballroom of the Vaughan Estate! It was gorgeous and the food was amazing!

We went with a restaurant called Caffino near Liberty Village for our wedding/reception for 40-50 ppl. We wanted to spend as little money as possible and it was very, very reasonable, fairly intimate and very pretty. Though we are spending a large chunk of our budget on photography and videography ($4000 for both by Focus Productions, who do great work).

@SaugaBride:  Just out of interest, what kind of price range is the catering? I always felt like external catering was very expensive so I’d be interested in knowing what a reasonable price looks like (though I think my fiance will kill me if I change our venue now!).

@Jezika:  she had 4 caterers that she works with… 2 were $40-50 per person…1 was $80 pp and the fourth was 100+ pp.. the ones for 40-50 are the most popular for getting booked there, if you take a look at post #18 on here i put up 3 photos of the food that they do 🙂

We had ours at Berkeley Fieldhouse and it was AWESOME.  They are soooooo easy to deal with and very accommodating.

our coordinator was Liz and she was great!   The venue is gorgeous.  There’s a treehouse for the men to get ready and a really nice bridal suite.

Pm me if you want more info!

Check out the Fermenting Cellar in the Disillery District!!! It was my top choice but with our guest list size we couldn’t afford it. With your budget and size I think it would be very doable. Here are some pics, I love it so much it’s breaking my heart to upload these lol

Small intimate venue I think of Sunnybrook Estates, Miller Lash, Graydon Hall (Graydon Hall is $$$), The Doctor`s House. These are all quaint and have a lot of charm. Old Mill is nice but on any given Sunday you will have and see 3 or 4 other brides there since there are a lot of rooms. If that is ok with you their grounds are very nice for photos.

Photographer we are using Sharp Fluff Photography www.sharpfluff.com – we checked out a bunch and also liked Rowell Photography but it was out of our budget.

Good luck!

We finally booked our venue today (it’s taken us ages to finalize all the details).  We’re getting married at Hockley Valley!

We really wanted to go with Jamie Dimitry for photography.  But it looks like he’s booked already.  He has great energy and beautiful, creative shots.  And his post-production is unreal.  Not sure exactly who we will be using.

My cousin’s wife is a bridal florist.  She does amazing work.  She’s actually in London, but will be doing our flowers for us.  She did all the flowers for her own wedding and they were gorgeous.

We booked our venue for a July 2015 wedding at the Arcadian Loft in downtown Toronto. The location is AWESOME – it’s in the Simpson Tower (on the same floor as another venue that’s more well known: Arcadian Court), and it’s so modern looking with floor to ceiling windows everywhere. It overlooks City Hall so you get a pretty nice view of downtown Toronto as well.

As for our photographer, we just booked Luminous Weddings: http://luminousweddings.ca/  Ryan’s work is awesome!! I love love love his photos! I think I’ve literally contacted over 100 GTA-based photographers over the past month and for some reason, I kept coming back to Luminous Weddings, so I knew I had to book him!

Anyway here are some pictures of my venue (I hope I’m not violating any rules by posting photos from other people’s weddings…):

We were working with a similar size.. My favorites were:

Shangri- La (library room- although the carpet was a deal breaker for me)

Canoe (although I don’t think you can do a buy out on Friday)

Gardiner Museum

Le Select (although they don’t allow outside music, which was a deal breaker for us)

As for photography, we’re using Renaissance Studios. They’re based on Milton but most of their work is done in Toronto.. We were overwhelmed by the options and didn’t want to spend a fortune, the shooter we picked does great work and is exactly what we wanted.
