Perhaps a fun place to go to would be Snakes and Lattes (though I say that because it’s downtown). It’s a really awesome boardgame cafe. You just sit, eat and drink (even beer) whilst playing any of their 1000+ boardgames.

@RockStar33:  My goodness, it’s so much fun. I’ve only been once, but it was just hours of reasonably-priced, not-too-crazy fun and the staff that work there help you with your game selections as if they were boardgame somaliers, and then show you how to play it. They get pretty busy at weekends, but you can book a table if it’s more than 2 weeks in advance. I just need to stop being so busy so I can go again. Taboo is my favey-fave.

@mrsbruff2b:  Hmm, well, I went towards the end of last year at which point you had to reserve at least two days in advance, and since then it’s gone up to two weeks, so you could be right. It’s only really super busy on Friday and Saturday nights though, and even if you don’t book, they put your name down and call you when a table is free (so you just wander off and guzzle a cocktail in a neighbouring bar– what?!), so we could just do that if worse comes to worse.

@RockStar33:  They also have wine, cider and mixed drinks (here’s the full menu). And delightful cakey treats, of course. What more can one need!? Sounds like I work for them, haha.
