I don’t think you’re going to find much cheaper than that downtown. That’s a pretty standard rate for a hotel.

What about groupon/living social/wag jag deals? There are always good ones around.

Do you have lots of people coming in from out of town?

@RockStar33:  You’re right, it would only work with a few guests needing rooms.

I think your best bet is to block rooms at different hotels to give your guests the option. Where is your wedding exactly? Right downtown? There are cheaper hotels outside of downtown if that would work at all.

We are booking with Monte Carlo in Mississauga. We haven’t booked yet so I’m not quite sure how much they are going for but I know we will be reserving a ton of rooms since 60% of the guest are from OTT. I can keep you updated with the cost.

@RockStar33:  $124 a night seems pretty good for a decent hotel. Last time I booked a hotel in T.O. I used either travelocity or expedia and got about that price.

This may not be a suitable option, but if you have clusters of family members coming, you could look for multi-bedroom properties on websites like AirBNB and book one for an entire group of family members or friends. For example, there’s this 8-bedroom place apparently downtown (though obviously any place depends on availability during your wedding period).

@couawilou:  I’m doing the Monte Carlo too, I think.  But in Brampton.  We’re waiting to hear a quote from Holiday Inn, but Monte Carlo was the only one who offered us an upgrade.

I can PM you our quote if you want the info. (though it might be different since it’s in Brampton)

That seems like a very good price for downtown. Your location is obviously fairly central downtown, so I wouldn’t suggest bookout outside of the downtown core. it would cost way more for a taxi out to Mississauga or East of the city, at the end of the night than anyone would save on the room.

@couawilou:  I’m not sure if it’s Brampton or not 😉  But we’re doing the one at Queen and Airport Road.  It’s closer to Caledon.

Hi Rockstar-

I am in a very similar situation and our wedding too is at Berkeley Chuch. What hotel did you secure $124 a night? I would love to hear some of the hotels you tried and the rates you were given!

Thanks in advance-

I think that those prices are fine as well for a city like Toronto. In fact, 124 might be cheap. Hotel prices are based on seasonality, real estate values, and demand. And the price is the the price with the market dictating what the consumer pays.

The only thing we can do is get quotes from multiple hotels. With that in mind, here are some hotel with telephone numbers for anyone that wants to call individually

  • Holiday Inn Express Toronto Downtown 416-367-5555
  • Radisson Hotel Admiral Toronto-Harbourfront 416-203-3333
  • Town Inn Suites 416-964-3311
  • Marquis Lounge and Bistro 416-593-9200
  • Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown 416-962-4686
  • The Grand Hotel & Suites Toronto 416-863-9000
  • Holiday Inn Toronto-Yorkdale 416-789-5161
  • Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel ‎416-361-1000
  • Novotel Toronto Centre Hotel 416-367-8900
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto 416-585-2500
