hi hypercrazy38,

I looooove still motion as well! but couldn’t afford them.  so i ended up booking with studio910 (www.studio910.ca). they are kinda similar to still motion and they are under 5k.  so far i find them very professional and flexible.

hope this helps! and happy planning 🙂

@hypercrazy38: Hi there! I used Stillmotion. You can get a highlights reel from them or a same day edit for $4700 (plus HST would put you a touch over your budget), I’m not sure if their prices have gone up since we signed our contract/had our wedding though. How much did they quote to you if you don’t mind my asking? I can’t recommend them enough, they are simply wonderful! You may want to look at who’s commented on their postings on Vimeo, a lot of the commentors are also cinematographers, so you might find someone through there 🙂

@hypercrazy38: Weird. Okay. I have a pricing list here in front of me and the same day edit package is $4900 which is 2 cinematographers, up to 12 hours of coverage and gives you the SDE film. I love these little SDE’s. Basically they show up and shoot all the way through the ceremony, then one of the cinematographers drops back and the other shoots your speeches (typically). Then that person leaves to catch up with the first, they edit it all together and you get to show a little 5 minute film of the day to your guests at the wedding. It’s so cool! If you search for SDE on their site you’ll see a few examples.

We got a highlights reel for that same price. It was three and a half minutes long, plus we get all the raw footage from the day. Basically we just didn’t get to show it to our guests the same day 🙂

If you wanted a longer or “complete” film, it’s $7900 based on the pricing list I have. I’d email them to clarify or see if they pricing has changed, I think the little booklet I have is a year old.

I found a photographer here in Pittsburgh that has gone to a couple of workshops with Stillmotion. I was so happy because there was no way we would have been able to afford to fly them down here. So we are working together right now. She isn’t charging much because she has only done two weddings since she’s mainly a photographer and no one is too interested in hiring her for cinematography. She was so happy on the phone when I spoke to her.

@hypercrazy38: Keep in mind you get all your raw footage when you do the highlights (not sure about the SDE). If you have a friend who’s handy at editting or feel up to tackling it yourself you could DIY the full length.

Like Miss Tattoo said, they do offer a lot of workshops, so I’m sure you’ll find someone out there who has a style similar to them. I hope you find someone soon!

@marlew: Very late to this party, but just wanted to say that Studio 67 quoted me $3500 for 8 hours coverage, SDE and edited footage. I didn’t end up getting a cinematographer, but if I had I probably would have gone with them. They were super nice and I love their work.

One of my friends just told me about her cinematographers, Honey & Dear based out of Barrie (but shoot the whole GTA). Their stuff looks great!

So many great ones and all the super great ones are so expensive.

I’m considering Norris Films.  I think Studio67 and Honey and Dear are also great.  SM is awesome!
