I got married at the Torpedo Factory in June 2008.

We used Catering by Uptown and we really liked them.  (I heard that TFAC was now requiring you to use only one of their allowed caterers?  Not sure if Uptown is on that list.)  Uptown was nice because they provide everything — linens, china, chivari chairs, centerpieces, etc etc, at no extra charge.  The food was decent and their service was great.

As for TFAC, I loved the location.  I found Tara was really friendly and helpful before I signed the contract, but after we sent in the deposit check, she stopped responding to emails so quickly.   I didn’t meet any of our day-of coordinators until the final walkthrough, but they all did a fine job and everything went very smoothly.

The thing about TFAC is you really need a lighting coordinator, which adds $$$.  I used John Farr and he was good.  I just emailed him a few times before the date, and the day-of, I didn’t even see him, but all the lights were there and it was lovely.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me!

We are getting married there at the end of March.  We’re using STAR Catering and so far everything has gone well.  They are providing everything, are allowing us to buy our own alcohol and have been really responsive.  The tasting was good too.

Didn’t end up using it, but Tara is a wonderful contact person.  When I was investigating a year ago-they didn’t require a specific caterer.  I agree with the comments here that you do need special lighting.  Great location!
