@countrychic24:  £3,500 for wedding £5,500 for honeymoon , mother in law paid £1,200 for catering. We had home grown flowers , cake was home made, invitations, decorations and my dress was £200 in the January sale, we got married in an English wood for £80 and party at the village hall for £200. We had the perfect wedding and I’m proud that we DIYed it, honeymoon was worth every penny.

If we include rings, honeymoon and my dress, we’re currently at about $85K. We’re right outside NYC so everything is more expensive, and we’re taking a 16-day honeymoon to Europe.

Mine is coming out to around $14,000 not including the honeymoon. We’re only having 38 guests :-/

With the honeymoon we’re around $23,000.

…My God, I don’t know if I’ve seen some of the sums of money here over the entirety of my life, let alone for a wedding. Those are weddings I’d love to attend for sure.

In its entirety, our wedding and Honeymoon cost about $6k. We had the money for significantly more, but I couldn’t justify the price. To be fair, we also had several freebies. I had relatives who volunteered to take pictures and film; my uncle’s the head of a successful band, so he offered to play for tips only. My husband’s uncle had a timeshare and put us up for a week in Florida.

But, if not for those perks, we still would have had family handle the pictures and videography. We would have hired a DJ instead of having a band. And we would have Honeymooned closer to home if not for his uncle’s freebies.

We paid for 70 guests but had 55 show. We married in the off-season, so our venue was cheaper. I paid less than $200 for my dress at a Homecoming/Prom shop. I paid $4 for my wedding band on Ebay. I shopped around for limos until I found one that was willing to charge us only for transport at the end of the night; all others insisted on full-day service with a similar price. My wedding cake was $125 from Walmart – I couldn’t justify spending at least several hundred more for…cake.

I did my own hair and make-up…I bought a bun dome off of Ebay and it matched my real hair perfectly. I wore costume jewelry from ebay and bought my veil at Michael’s. I made the corsages and boutonnieres. Centerpieces were made by yours truly from items at craft and dollar stores – I doubt I spent more than $40 on everything, including artificial flowers. I printed out my own favor tags.

I purchased organza bags in bulk and filled them with dinner mints – I paid about $30 altogether for favors.

Several other items – like the ring box for our ringbearer – came from ebay. Buying secondhand like that saved a *lot* of money and it looked just as nice.

We still get people asking how we were able to afford such a nice wedding. Timing, pruning down the guest list to only important people and trimming the cost of less important things.

If we ended up doing a big wedding in order please SO’s family ( I doubt mine side would even care since elopement been done a couple of times to no complanient) I estimated the cost to be just over $15,000 for the event itself. That includes all attiere for the bridal party, no flowers, cake, photography, open bar, platted diner, hair & make-up, venue and reception. What I didn’t include was the cost of invitions, flowers, table cloths, and center pieces. Invitions I can do myself, flowers I prefer fake or not having them at all, table cloths don’t see the point. As for center pieces I was thinking about doing candles (diamond candles actually) or not having any. I estimated the cost for 100 (plus ones (or two) for every guest) and the cost been estimated for either the Tulsa Zoo for everything or A movie theater in Ann Arbor Mi (ceremony) & Reception @ UM or a new by Hotel (reception). But I just can’t see myself doing a big wedding, I already got what I wanted a simple ceremony just the two of us taking ten minutes and diner at Chili’s afterwards.

@MrsN14:  Yes! are keeping ours under 15k for 180-200 people in NJ 25 mins out of the city. I get the deal’s! There is no way I’m paying over 20k for a wedding!

I am proud to say that it’ll end up costing less than $13k in the San Francisco Bay Area, without having to resort to a cake-and-punch or backyard BBQ reception (although there’s nothing wrong with those kinds of receptions; just not my thing).

That’s for about 130 people, and with my Future Mother-In-Law doing our flowers and centerpieces with expensive silks, not fresh flowers.

@AmyFarrahFowler:  Out of curiousity, would you mind sharing the budget without rings and honeymoon included? I’m about to move to NYC this week and I have a budget but I’m interested to know what other NYC brides are doing.
