It’s going to be different depending on location. I’ve seen some south FL bees bemoaning the high cost of weddings in their areas, but I think it’s quite a bit less in some others.

Are there any local wedding blogs or magazines you could check out? It’s a good idea to find those things anyway so you know about the bridal expos and such, where you can meet lots of vendors all at once.

Here’s a general guide that might help you get started:

A friend of mine just had her wedding down here in Tampa last year.  It was around $15-20k for about 100 people so I would think you can have a nice one depending on the location for a max of $10k.  It definitely depends on what things you would like to spurge on such as venue, a photographer, transportation or a fancy dress.

You can get married on just about any budget, depending on what your expectations are and what you plan to cover in your budget. Sit down with your Fiance, create a list of priorities, and work from there. For example, if music is your biggest priority, make sure to budget enough to pay for a good DJ/Band/bagpiper/etc. If you couldn’t care less about table linens, budget a bare bones amount for basic white everything and call it a day.

Well we are having 100 guests and the wedding and reception will cost 5k but we are skipping a lot of things like alcohol, limos, centerpieces, and DJ.

@KT808:  Such a great way to save! My partner and I are having 70 guests and we aren’t paying for alcohol – which I think is something you can get away with 🙂

Ours will cost about 5k all up 🙂

Our wedding is way bigger than yours, 220 invited but we are doing it for approx $12k. My opinion is to make a budget and stick to it.  Good luck!

I had a wedding for 83 last month in Fort Lauderdale. It was nice, but definitely not over the top, and we spent 37k.

You can do it. “2000 Dollar Wedding” is a great resource, just google it and start flipping through the archived posts.

ETA – I realized I didn’t answer the question. We were shooting for $10K, 125 people. We are probably going to come in about $15K for about the same number. That’s including the dress/tux, but not the rings or the Honeymoon. I’m disappointed we went so high over budget, but I’m happy with what we’re getting.

@SurferB:  Yeah, that stuff adds up fast, especially when anywhere nice on the beach starts at $135 or so per person for the basic chicken dishes.
