- Wedding: November 2011
first of all, i am getting married in 91 days!
we planned this all kind of quickly (no im not pregnant, we just didnt feel like waiting), and i just bought the dress yesterday. with only 3 months, there are not that many options besides Davids, sample gowns, and bridesmaids dresses in white/ivory.
anyway, i was tempted by this davids dress, and was going to wear a sash with fabric flowers off to the side, going with that whole anthropologie/style me pretty look that you see out there.
but i noticed the tafetta fabric was kind of thin and you could see the seams underneath. plus i am getting married in december, so i thought satin might be a nicer fabric.
so then i found this bridesmaid dress and it is very similar and probably fits me even better than the davids dress. plus its only 240 bux! i swear it looked nicer on me than some of the $3000 samples i tried on at the bridal store.
so i just assumed i would do a sash and flowers with it too, but now i realize with satin, would the flowers look wrong? and what about a necklace and flowers for my hair? plus i wanted to be able to wear a cardigan for part of the time (seen that a lot on the wedding blogs) both to cover tattoos on my arms and in case it is cold.
but i feel like satin lends itself more to a more rhinestone look rather than the anthropologie look.
so is a satin bolero and rhinestones my only option? or can i do that fabric flower/cardigan look?
also, with the way the diagonal pleats are on this dress, can i still do a sash or just flowers at my waist? or will it look weird? the davids dress pleats radiate out from the waist, so it makes sense to put a detail where they come together. but would it not work on this one?
this is the dress i ordered (shown in navy but i got it in ivory)
