I have a Nissan (Murano) as well and love it, I’ve never had any issues. If you’re looking for a smaller SUV, Nissan has the Rogue

@FutureMrsBPB Definitely not, I was remarking about what someone else was saying but didn’t put her name in front of it. Maybe, I should have made it another line… Tongue out

@FutureMrsBPB I will say, that Hyundai’s have come a long way from like 5 years ago. They used to such pieces of crap (my brother and ex had one, but had nothing but problems). They are actually really nice now!

I loved my subaru outback! I could go anywhere, do anything with her. I got 28-32 mpg much higher than what manufacturer said i would get. The only problem I had was brakes but I live in the mountains so I guess it is to be expected. I totaled many a deer with her (lol i live in the middle of nowhere too). She never sustained more then a couple of dents and scratches. I loved having the AWD. I had to replace her with a minivan 🙁   but I would get another in a heartbeat if I didn’t need the kid hauling capacity.

Glad you are okay. I have a 2011 Ford Escape (had a 2008 previously) and Fiance has a 2008 Nissan Altima. We love love love both. I’ve also had a loaner Fusion from the dealer and I loved that, too. The only problem we have had with either car (or any of my Escapes, this is the third one) is with the remote start in my current one, reverse does a weird thing if I use the remote start and reverse is the first gear I use after I start it. Ford is working on a fix, and other than that we have no complaints.

On the other hand, my sister bought a brand new Hyundai Sante Fe and kept it less than a year because it was at the dealer more than she drove it.

@MrsSl82be I agree, Hyundai’s latest models are very nice and are now some hefty competition for even luxury german cars as far as style, options, ect.

I have a Nissan Murano. I wouldn’t buy another one. Not sure why.. it has some really cool features (back up camera, Bose stereo, etc.) I just don’t like how it drives and don’t think the seat is very comfortable.

I know this isn’t on your list, but Fiance has a Subaru Legacy and we both LOVE it. I’m not sure where you live, but in the Midwest the AWD is a huge plus as well.

I HATED car shopping. I hope you find what you are looking for and have a stress-free shopping experience!

We are Toyota drivers. I have a Matrix, DH has a Tacoma, Mother-In-Law has a Venza, Father-In-Law has a Camry and Tundra, and the list goes on…but if your looking for a SUV the Matrix and the Venza are both SOOO awesome. They come in 4WD for country living and are very nice highway vehicles. We have had such good luck wiith our Toyotas and very very reliable. Not to mention they keep their value!

I am a little biased, but I suggest the Chevy Cruze or Malibu.  Both Fiance and myself work at a Chevy dealership so we deal with them all the time.  I personally like the Malibu better than the Cruze cause it’s just a little bigger but both are great vehicles.  As far as having safety issues with the Cruze there were some recalls but those all must be done prior to sale.  My Fiance owned a couple Malibus, his sister and mother both own one as well his father has an Equinox. I own a GMC Envoy, my brother has a Chevy Trailblazer (both have been replaced with differant models now) We are a Groomsmen family!

I do know that the Malibu is being changed a little bit for the 2012 models – you can google pics of it.  The new models usually start to appear at the dealership late July / early August so dealerships will be wanting to clear out thier 2011 inventory to make room for the new stuff.

If you can wait til closer to the end of the month and you go to a dealership that competes with the others in the area – month end is the time to buy!  Most dealers are trying to meet thier goals and atleast with Chevy they really push at the end of each quarter (June will be the next end) so they are even more eager to sell as much as they can before than.

Sorry, little long winded here, but hope it helps a little.

I have a 2010 Honda Civic, and I love it! It’s great on gas, and it’s just an all around great ride! I have absolutely no complaints.  And, with what the PP said, wait til the end of the month, FI’s coworker used to work at Honda and he said buying at the end of the month is the ideal time, he would do any and everything to get everyone that walked in the door in a car and on the road.

Good Luck!

I have a Chevy Equinox.  I love it!  I bought it for the roominess and the fact that it drives like a car and not a truck.  I have two teenagers and we seem to keep a bunch of junk in the back of the car.  Lately it has been costing me $45-$55 to fill her up.  I love sitting up higher than a car allows when I drive and I wouldn’t trade that. But my next SUV will be more fuel efficient and smaller since my kids are almost out of the house and it will just be me (and occasionally DH).  If I were in the market for a new car now I’d look at an Escape Hybrid and other hybrids.

I know this is on your list but I absolutely do not like the Ford fusion. My mom has that car and everytime I drive in it, it is like I can’t see anything. So many blind spots its rediculous. Maybe it is just me but I just dont like the car.

Btw, glad you are doing okay and good luck car shopping.

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and I LOVE it!!!  It is by far my favorite car I have ever owned or driven.  I have have blindspot problems (I am 5’2″) and it is absolutely a joy to drive.  I have never had any problems with my car and average 29 mpg mostly city.  We have actually been thinking about buying a second Fusion.

From a car perspective, DH and I bought a 2010 VW Passat in December (I also have a 2003 VW Jetta that I’ve had since it was new).  We both love it and it drives so nice!  Great gas milage too.

We test drove a lot of cars before we bought and the Passat just drove so much nicer than the Fords, Nissans, Mazdas, etc that we drove.  It also just looks and feels like a much nicer car, IMO, with its features, upgrade options, etc.

I have a 2009 Pontiac G6 and my SO has a 2008 Pontiac G6. Mine is a 4 cylinder and his is a V6. I absolutely LOVE both of them. I’m super obsessed with my car. I actually bought 1 2009 G6 and then that one got totalled so 3 months later I bought a similar G6 with less miles. Pontiacs are long lasting and they are great vehicles. I would absolutely recommend them.
