I want to vote in the poll, but my option isn’t listed…haha. I plan to go with a traditional wedding that has theme-like touches, but without it being in a church. I want it to be “vintage”, without being a “vintage” wedding. Does that make sense? I want it to be classy and elegant, without being too modern. I want things to be 40’s and 50’s-esque, but I don’t want people to think “Oh she’s having a 50’s wedding. It’s going to be just poodle skirts and jukeboxes.” Does that make sense?

Mine wasn’t listed as an option, either.  We had a very traditional church wedding for our ceremony, and then our reception was a formal masquerade!  We got the best of both worlds.

@GreenEyedMoon:  wow, a masquerade reception sounds awesome!

Can you clarify what you mean by traditional?  You have church up there, which is what I first thought of, but if you include city hall or a park.. I don’t know, my theme isn’t crazy or anything (romantic and whimsical) so I would consider it more traditional, but maybe it is really a theme??

eta I think both are great, to each their own!  That said, theme or destination weddings usually end up more fun, imo ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m having a country/rustic wedding.  A field for the ceremony & mason jars & kerosene lamps for reception decor.

Right now it’s between the church ceremony or backyard ceremony (most likely will be the church).  So it is going to be tradtional in a sense.  Even if it’s in the backyard.  My theme is “Two Hearts (as one/one love)” so it’s nothing outlandish or super unique.

I love your ideas.  I think your ceremony being traditional is nice and then a funky retro reception is a nice mix.  Your folks will have fun!

I’m having a destination wedding on the beach!

I think I’d definitely lean with the majority and say a mix between traditional and themed is what fits me best ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re having a loose theme based on the Disney movie Tangled and ribbons, but it’s also a traditional church wedding with a church reception. We’re taking the traditional elements (actually because they’re important to him–his family is much more traditional than mine!) and making them us.

    Hmmm,

    Semi-Traditional ??

I am an encore Bride… first wedding back in the 1980s was very very traditional and formal.

    This time round…

It will be very different.  We are eloping for a beach front Destination Wedding, just the two of us (vs over 100 Guests last time).  Looking forward to it being just the two of us staring into each others eyes as we exchange I DOs… no distractions !!

Then a wonderful honeymoon… in two parts.  Golfing for Week 1, and a relaxing Caribbean Getaway for Week 2

Somewhere in the mix we will be throwing a Back-Home Reception… that will be ALL FUN !!  And inviting our best friends.

The Reception idea has “grown” because so many folks want to celebrate our love with us… makes us feel all warm and cozy this, being able to find love again at this point in our lives (I’m over 50, he’s over 60).

Having spent some time here on WBee, I’ve been bitten… and have decided that I need a theme for the Reception.  Leaning towards Sea & Sand, Surf & Shore… because it reflects both where we will marry, and how we plan to honeymoon.

Decidely finding I may have fun with this… have picked my colour palette today… Sand, Tan, Champagne… Sea Glass, Tourquoise and a touch of Navy.  Invites will have to evoke that feeling.  And am envisioning a cake with Seashells, and a few strategic elements DIY projects to pull it all together (lots of work, but I think lots of fun too)

Even thinking now, that I might need a specific outfit / dress to wear to the reception that ties in with my theme…

This could be a hoot… LOVE getting married the second time… proving to be a lot more fun than I ever imagined.  Lol, I’ve caught Bride Fever

My option isn’t listed on the poll. I’m having an offbeat wedding, getting married in a theater and having a Midsummer Nights Dream wedding. I like themed weddings. ๐Ÿ™‚
