A few days ago I posted asking everyone’s opinion on coasters as favors. Since I wasn’t completely sold on them myself and I got some good advice from some bees, I came up with another idea:

A trail mix bar! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before! We’ll have small brown paper bags (probably stamped with our monogram or something to tie in with the theme of the wedding) and everyone can fill their own bag with their own concoction of trail mix. Fiance and I are really excited about it! Plus all the leftovers (if there are any!) can be packed up for the honeymoon.
So my question is, what do you think should be included in the trail mix bar? I was thinking homemade granola, sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, M&Ms, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, raisins and craisins. That’s what I have so far anyway. Any other suggestions?

That’s a really good idea….but don’t forget scoops or spoons so ppl don’t use thier fingers on all the different types of nuts ect….. I would also make sure that none of your guests have peanut allergies, and perhaps offer a candy bar instead without peanuts near it, for those who may not be able to eat nuts. My son has a peanut allergy and it is so bad that he can’t even breath in the peanut dust, as it could be life threatning.

dried fruit covered with chocolate or yogurt
make sure than not all of the nuts are salted, maybe have some salted and some unsalted

Wow. May I borrow this idea for my Zion National Park destination wedding? We’re planning a hike and several outdoor adventures post ceremony. This would be fabulous!

@christybtobe: Absolutely! 🙂 Your wedding sounds like so much fun and a trail mix bar would go perfectly!
