Keep the train! A ballgown isn’t complete without a lovely flowing train!

(Totally bias as I had a ballgown with a gorgeous chapel train)

I love the idea of a detachable train so you don’t have to deal with a bustle. But I definitely think a train is a must, when else will you get to wear one? Also major props to you for making your own dress, what talent! Pictures please πŸ™‚

adriananoelle :  My bustle was great and worked so well with my dress. Bustle’s can be so hideous but since you’re doing it yourself, you can tweak it to make it EXACTLY how you want it. Or a detachable one is a good idea too! πŸ’πŸΌ

Oh wow I am in the same boat as you! I am having a custom gown and I want a ballgown too, I want a big train but dont wanna drag it around all day (espeicall dancing) so I am having it detachable.

Also, if you like the look of a bustle (sounds like you’re not too keen on it) then go for it, otherwise I’d suggest detachable :'(

adriananoelle :  Yes!! If you do detachable train then why not go court or even chapel!? Then when it’s time to dance just whip it off and have a nice sweep/or no train at all for your dress.

My gown is going to have quite the layers. I’m going to have a detachable train(5 ft), detachable ballgown (3ft), and then a nice simple dress skirt underneath. I really don’t want to dance all night in a heavy ballgown AND it’s summer. I’m getting three dresses in one! We are just starting the process so I’m still undecisive with the lengths of train/skit but that’s what I’m dreaming of now. Could all change.

Train all the way, I had a royal train originally that we shortened to a chapel. I loved it
