- Wedding: June 2012
I’ll be having an evening wedding (begins at 6pm) on Cape Cod, about an hour and a half from my home. It’s really my dream location and the time/place is perfect for about 95% of my guests. It’s really only an inconvenience for my Godfather and my Grandfather, both of whom are in their late 80’s. I decided long ago that I’d like to do whatever I can to get them there in relative comfort.
My thinking was that I’d contact the assisted living complex my Grandfather currently lives in and see if I could hire someone for the day to drive them to the Cape and then leave fairly early, probably 9pm or so after dinner is over. That way no one else in my family has to leave early, and they’ll both be able to come but not stay overnight anywhere or have to worry about driving (my Godfather still drives).
Has anyone ever done this? Now that the time has come for me to start looking for someone, I’m worried that there’ll be insurance issues or it’ll cost way more than I anticipated. I’d love to hear about anyone else’s experience!
