Does anyone have any suggestions for transportation between the hotel where I am getting ready and the venue where our ceremony and reception will be taking place (same venue for both). Here is the issue: the venue is less than 10 minute drive from the hotel, so I really can’t justify getting a huge expensive limo for such a short trip. We’ll probably do photos around the area of the venue to make things easier too, so we wouldn’t need multiple drop offs. Is it okay for the bridal party just to make it there on their own, in their cars, or taxi vans?
The only thing I’m concerned with about getting in a family member’s car is my dress… do you think it would get dirty (although we’d clean the car first!)? Did any of you just take a regular car to your ceremony? Did you feel you missed out at all?

We’re not renting any transportation, but I did want to! We decided it’d be silly to spend so much $$ when people have cars!
I’m getting ready at the ceremony site, but Fiance and I are going to be driving in his car all day. It’s a comfort zone for both of us! I’m going to get him some new seat covers though because the ones now are a tad dirty. I’m a little worried that my dress will get a little dirty, but that’s life, right? haha
For the bridal party, Maid/Matron of Honor and a Groomsmen are toting everyone around (all the girls in Maid/Matron of Honor car, and all the boys in Groomsmen car) to make it easy on parking, etc.

We’re in the same situation. 10 minute drive between the hotel and the venue. We rented a shuttle bus for us and the entire bridal party. It was way cheaper than a fancy limo but still does the job.

can you change at your venue? we rented a limo but since my mom lives literally 5 minutes from the church me and my girls drove ourselves there, i had the limo pick up the boys at the hotel and bring them to the church and then my husband, myself and the entire bridal party rode back to the hotel in the limo. i dont think your dress will get dirty, but its worth seeing if they have a changing room at the venue, i didnt change until i got to the church.

You certainly can use your own vehicles. Although limos etc make great pictures, they are one area where you can trim the budget.
Ask the owners to have the vehicles cleaned before the wedding, then line the seats and floor with sheets.

@totheislnds: we have a huge hotel suite where we’ll be getting ready, so definitely not going to give that up to get dressed in the small room at the venue! i want to be comfy and get some good photos while getting ready. but otherwise, that would be a good solution!
@Meowkers: I’ll have to look into the bus option, thanks! Although I’m more worried about myself than the bridal party, truthfully… 🙂

we wont be having cars as we will be getting married at a hotel, he will arrive in his own car, but i will already be there, and all i have to do is walk downstairs….. but i will really miss the traditional photo-in-the-car picture…..maybe we could still do that in FIs car…..its a nice BMW, mine is too tiny, but we could put ribbons and flowers on his car just for the pictures i suppose?
