Are you wondering about guest transportation or bridal party transportation?

I think that depends – how are they getting themselves to the ceremony?  If you are driving them, then yes you have to provide transportation to the reception.  If they are driving themselves, then I don’t think you have to!

I don’t think (or at least I’m not aware that) there is a rule saying you HAVE to transport your bridal party. However, it is a nice gesture, if it’s in the budget.

As far as logistics goes, easiest way is to pick up from either where they’re staying or where their cars will be and driving them around all day–bringing them back to where they’re staying/where their cars are (i.e. the church, the hotel, someone’s house?).

@jlpalumbo:  Who says it has to cost $700? We borrowed cars, i.e. asked friends who had nice cars, and cleaned and decorated them. Those cars transported me and my father and my bridesmaids to the church, and then me + Darling Husband + bridesmaids + groomsmen from the church to the reception.

After the reception, everyone made their own way home. (except us, off to honeymoon!) As it turned out, every Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen had a partner who drove themselves to the reception. The one time I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man when I was single, I got a lift home with a friend who had attended the wedding.

@jlpalumbo:  oh.. hmm I’m not sure then. Maybe they could leave cars at hotel and get dropped off at your parents, then you can all go from there? FWIW, our limos are flat rates for a block of time (3 hrs, 6 hrs, etc.) and distance only counts if it’s over crazy amount of miles. I’m not sure if all limo companies are like that though, or if some charge by the mile.

But I wouldn’t stress over not doing something super formal like a limo. @paula1248:  I like the idea of borrowing cars and decorating them. That would be so cute!
