Hey bees! I need your advice on transportation for my guests. Almost all of them will be coming in from out of town (we are expecting approx. 140-160).
We are on the fence about whether or not to provide optional transportation. Here are the arguments for/against:
Pro transport: gives guests that pampered and worry-free experience (esp. in an unknown area and after a night of partying!), ensures most guests are on time for cocktails (hopefully!)… can’t really think of any more!
Con transport: very difficult to coordinate as hotels are scattered throughout the area (we would need to designate “central” pick up locations for the shuttles – which kind of defeats the purpose because guests would have to drive to the pick up spot); expensive (extra $1,000-1500); need to add extra rsvp option on invitations to get the # of guests actually using the transport; what if people miss the bus?; ahhh!
Basically, I’ve gone through every scenario in my head so many times – and it all seems like a logistical nightmare! Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated! Thx 🙂

@juney20: I also have this problem! But I think I’m going with letting everyone fend for themselves … They’re adults, they can handle it. And I don’t want to deal with the headache and extra expense!

Sometimes couples are trying to take on way too much resposnibility for their guests.
I think most people who do not rent a car when out of town, expect to get a taxi to and from the event.

@jordyanna: I agree with you! Not worth the hassle for an unknown number of people who will use it. Everyone will have their own car, and yes you’re right they are all adults!! They are responsible for their own decisions at the end of the day.

@julies1949: Oh I definitely agree if people are flying.. however all of my guests are driving their own cars to the location, two hours away.

Since their all driving their own cars they can definately manage it. Most will have a gps or already printed directions, but still give them a version of your own directions. Frankly if I was a guest I would prefer to drive myself anyways.
