So I have a wedding party of 6, including myself and my fiance. The venue for both the ceremony and reception is less than a 5 minute drive from where the outdoor pictures wlll be. Getting a party bus/renting a limo, is too expensive as they all have 3 hour minimum rentals, and I would only need transportation for an hour tops. I was thinking maybe a taxi van could just shuttle us from the venue to the lakefront for pictures and back to the venue. Has anyone ever done that? Is that too tacky?? Or any other cheaper ideas would be appreciated, apart from us piling into separate cars and driving ourselves – which I’m trying not to have to do!

Don’t forget you can rent cars!!! I plan on doing this. I didn’t want your standard wedding ride, I wanted to be different. I want some kind of convertible 🙂

@tinkstar: Some one on here once suggested contacting a funeral home since they already have a fleet of transportation vehicles. If they’re not booked that day, they may give you a good deal. I personally don’t have experience with this (ceremony, reception and hotel are all in the same place for me), but it was something interesting that I would’ve never considered.

@tinkstar: I also had a wedding party of 6 (me, Darling Husband, 2 BMs, 2 GMs) and we used 2 cars. From the wedding to the photos and reception (photos and reception was same place) we had me and Darling Husband by ourselves in one car, the 4 in the bridal party in the other. Actually in most weddings I’ve seen, the bridal party uses more than 1 car.
We just used 2 friends’ cars which were white and matched. We cleaned them and decocated them with ribbons and tulle.

@tinkstar: You could rent a large SUV or minivan! I don’t know anything about pricing, but I’m guessing even renting a large/luxury SUV for the day would be cheaper than a limo.

@tinkstar: We’re not planning on getting transportation either- our ceremony and reception are at the same place so it just doesnt make sense. We’re just going to ask a few friends to drive. When my other friends got married, they all did the same thing and just had someone in the family or friend drive the bride. We all felt it was an uneeded expense.
