Below is my day-of transportation outline. My day-of coordinator is pushing me to consider hiring a limo for part of the transportation so the wedding party doesn’t have to help. I think her concern has some merit, but I don’t really like limos (find them hard to get in and out of when dressed up) and think it is expensive for what we get. She has negotiated $230 (including tip) for 2 hours, which I do not think is enough time.
We each have 3 attendants, so 4 on each side which can easily fit in one vehicle. I have a nice mid-sized SUV I was going to have detailed to be the girls’ main ride. Best Man has a minivan or truck that would be fine for the guys.
We *are* all from out of town. But it is not a hard town to navigate and everything is within 15 – 20 mins of each other.
Is my transport plan crazy? Do I need to find a way to hire chauffeurs?
9:45 AM – Bridesmaids and I to salon in my car, moms come in a separate car and stepdad will drive them
12:30 – Done at salon, back to hotel and pick up sandwiches on the way (there is a Jimmy John’s right next to the salon so this is fast)
Get ready at hotel
1:45 – Girls and guys drive separately to photo location. Parking may be a little tricky if we want to park very close. First thing is a first look, so MOH/bride and BM/groom could get dropped off and a different wedding part member could go park and then rejoin us.
Photos for 2.5 hours. Parents will join us in their own cars in about 40 minutes. They will get to leave photos early so not too worried about them parking.
4:30 – Photos done, back to cars we came in and go to venue
Ceremony starts at 5:30
Reception in same hall
At end of night, either Maid/Matron of Honor drives us back to hotel (she doesn’t drink anyway and has offered) OR we take the hotel shuttle, which we have arranged for guests anyway
Other options I have under consideration are calling regular mini van taxis (seems risky, what if they are slow to show up) or borrowing/renting a second minivan and recruiting 2 friends who are not in the wedding to drive us for photos.
