I kid you not! I was feeding the outside animals this morning when I heard a loud crash! It was a black bear attacking my bird feeders! No big deal, I have seen bears before so I continue going about my business. When I was ready to leave the barn, Mr. or Ms. Bear had moved to the feeders directly across from the door. I was still not worried. I started yelling and waving my arms, which USUALLY makes them run off. Not this time! The bear got up and started WALKING TOWARDS me! I quickly went back into the barn and waited until the bear got done feeding. Here is my cell phone pic. It is poor quality but it was early morning and my hands were NOT steady!

@trueblue14: Where in Jersey do you live? You can tell me county if you don’t want to specify town. Bears and deer seem to be a growing concern in our areas. Please report it to the police or animal control to handle the situation before someone is attacked or a house is broken into.

@tksjewelry: A good 20 minutes!
@Rouquine: Western NJ, near Belvidere!

Oh my goodness! Were your outside animals ok?

@Rouquine: The bears were after the birdseed – I grew up in rural PA and it happened quite often (especially if we had sunflower seeds in the feeders). I doubt the bears are going to start breaking into houses!

@trueblue14: Gotcha. We’ve been getting them in South Jersey!
Lady Bear – It depends on the part of Jersey you live. It’s happened this past year in more suburan towns. It’s been crazy. I wouldn’t worry if it was rural.

@AlwaysSunny: The outside animals are fine. I am USED to bears as I used to live in the middle of state forest land. What made this unusual is the fact that the bear did not run off when I yelled. Here’s another BAD pic!

I would literally have pissed in my pants. I wonder if the smell of urine would make them run off…?
