To me it depends on how much you paid for the dress.  If you paid $200 dollars you should do the TTD session. If it was expensive sell it or donate it to a worthy cause. I honestly can’t see preserving it. I have never seen a dress that actually looked decent 20-30 years later. They all yellowed. But that is just my experience.

I think that TTD sessions are SO awesome, but will not be doing that with my nice Maggie dress! With that being said, I’m all down for getting a cheaper <$200 dress just for the TTD session, but it all depends on you! If my dress were less than $500, I probably would just trash it, but I can’t do that to the dress I have. (Which I’ll probably end up selling after the wedding – I won’t be using it again!)

I LOVE TTD sessions. You don’t have to “trash” it persay. I’m planning on doing a TTD session in Hawaii. I am not going into any ocean water because my fabric isn’t good in that type of water. I do want to have it near the beach, mountains, etc. I plan to preserve my gown AFTER the TTD session. My dress is over $1,000 and I’d like to keep it…just a little bit after the wedding since I’m spending so much money on it.

I love the idea of trashing the dress… It’s another great excuse to get back in your wedding garb and show it off. =)

I did a “trash the dress session” the next day but I didn’t actually trash it beyond cleaning (just some light dirt and grass stains)…but I LOVE the pictures!  My favorite photos by far.
