I am a big giant NAY on this. Wedding dresses are the ultimate heirloom! They are so precious and often the most expensive dress of your life. Everytime I see these I think NOOOOOOOOOOO.

that being said, if you realllly want to a cliff jumping pic or rope swing pic would be amazing. Just ya know, don’t hurt yourself.

I agree with PP, why on earth would you ruin a perfectly good (expensive) dress..

That dress you’re planning on ruining for funsies could be donated to someone who isn’t as fortunate to be able to trash their clothing after they wear it.

I agree with the PP instead of doing trash dress why don’t you either donate it to a bride/charity who can’t afford a dress. Instead of probably ruining a very expensive dress.

I personally find it kind of amusing when people shun trash the dress shoots, while simultaneously insisting that the best thing to do with it is to put it in a box for future generations. I don’t know about you, but I had no interest in wearing my mom’s 1984 wedding dress, and I haven’t heard of many brides who do. So really, I see very little difference between doing a TTD shoot and saving the gown.

Personally, I plan on donating my dress after the wedding. It’ll still be fashionable for a few more years and I love the idea of a bride who may not otherwise be able to afford a gown wearing it.

Ham1320:  I would prefer selling my dress

A trash the dress session just adds more cost to the wedding….. paying for the photographer……

Ham1320:  If your reception dress isn’t expensive, I say go for it! Or you could buy a cheap one off the rack for the photos.

These are great:

Love this one, and doesn’t actually “trash” the dress:

So a trash the dress shoot without actually trashing it? I would just call it an excuse to wear your dress again which is what it sounds like, no judgement own it and rock it!
