Darling Husband and I want to go on a trip next week somewhere in the US for four days. DH likes Miami but unfortunately, we are trying to conceive and I’m afraid of Zika. Long story short, I need your help! Do you have any recommendations? If yes, why do you like it/what can we do there? Right now, I’m looking at Colorado and California but I’m just not sold on it.
Any help is much appreciated!!

Not sure where you are, but all three of these are great for shorter trips. I love all of these cities because there are tons of great food and drink options and in particular Asheville and Portland, hikes/kayaking areas right there so I can burn off all that food and drink. Also, the Biltmore estate in Asheville is pretty amazing.

2 days San Francisco, 2 days Big Sur or Napa.

I second Savannah or Charleston

I love this post! We were wanting a short US trip too. I’m in Southern Cali.
Are you guys wine drinkers? San Luis Obispo is lovely for a casual trip, or what someone suggested Big Sur or Napa
We were thinking Colorado too, neither of us are skiers but I think its beautiful

I’m from Colorado and its a pretty great state if you’re into the outdoors. Why aren’t you sold on it?
Also, I second Big Sur or Napa. Both are fantastic and great for long weekends.

Thanks everyone!! There are some great ideas here! We live in the Midwest, but can travel anywhere in the US.
takemetothebeach : Colorado was my first choice, but it just doesn’t seem like there’s enough to do there [ETA: at this time of the year]. I also can’t seem to find any information on what city to go to. Which city would be best if we went there? I’d like some outdoor activities since we’ve never done that kind of trip before.

ttckp1108 : I really like Gatlinburg, TN. It would be lovely this time of the year, too. There may not be as many things to do at the moment since it’s cooling down, but it all depends on what you’re wanting to do. Also, depending on where in the Midwest you are, it may not be that far of a drive? I live in Central IL and it was about a 6-7 hour drive from my parents’ house.

Seattle or Portland? You could do cool city things, be a tourist, and explore the surrounding outdoorsy areas.

New Orleans! Good food, good music, art, culture….it is my favorite city ever.

Nashville is one of my favorite US Cities! So much to do, and just the right size for exploring over 4 days.

How about South Dakota! You can see the black hills, two national parks, one state park, and of course the monuments. 🙂

We are in San Francisco for a weekend getaway and drove up the coast through Big Sur, so I vote for what we are doing!
