We booked a safari in Kenya and then the government sent troops into Somolia and now there is increased terrorism threat. So obviously we’re looking into travel insurance in case this situation isn’t resolved in the next 5 months. In our research we haven’t come across ONE SINGLE positive review of a company where something happened and the company actually paid out a claim. Apparently a travel advisory by the state department doesn’t mean a cancellation will be given but if an attack occurs in a city on our itenerary within 30 days of our travel it is.
Has ANYONE had a positive experience with a travel insurance company when you filed a claim?

you cant insure against either acts of god, war or terrorism – although for my employees they are coverered for kidnapping although i wouldnt want to see if they actually pay it out
we travel quite often to 3rd world countries and not needed to lodge a claim. be in good health before you go, have meds to cover any what if incidents (anti biotics/malaria/first aid kit/have shots ect) and contact the hotel/resort etc before you go to confirm they have your booking/pickup is arranged etc. even if you used a travel agent i still do this as we have been burnt in the past

@eloping: Most of the ones we researched today claimed they would cover in various situations of terrorism (whether cancellation or evacuation because of) in various timeframes of our travel dates.
Another thing that sounds fishy about this whole travel insurance thing!
