If you can, eat at Elizabeth on 37th.  It is AMAZING.  Cant say enough about this place.

Savannah has lots of cool things to see. ๐Ÿ™‚ Zunzis is my favorite restaurant. I really recommend the Gryphon Tea House. It’s a tea house connected with SCAD (my alma mater) that was redone by the historical restoration students. It’s really beautiful. Mrs. Wilke’s is a Savannah institution, be sure to get there early; they have a line that stretches all the way down the street.

There is an WWII airplane museum very close to Savannah, and also a fort a little outside the city called Fort Pulaski.  Both are very much worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the trolley tour. I did the ghost tour too, and that was a lot of fun in a different way. I think you can get a package deal if you do both.

Bonaventure cemetary is very scenic and full of history.  It’s just outside town.

I like to drive out to Tybee Island, which is about 30 minutes away. You can spend time at the pier on the beach or climb the historic lighthouse.

sochic:  Walk down River Street! Tons of shops, some restaurants, and a nice view of the river. Spanky’s is a pretty cool inexpensive place to eat down there (one of the only not-pricey restaurants in that area). They’re famous for their spuds, which are a potato side and super awesome. Also check out River Street Sweets ๐Ÿ™‚

sochic:  the only recommendation I have is EVERYTHING lol. Full disclosures, one of the chefs is a groomsman, so he got us lots of samples when we visited, but we loved it all. There was a special on travel channel that went there too. There is a dish served over foie gras hash that was amazing.

Huey’s on the River is my absolute favorite place to eat in Savannah! Also, the Bohemian Hotel has a beautiful rooftop bar where you can see everything!

Paris Market has the best coffee in town.  Rocks on the Roof is a fun casual bar with the best view in town.  Fireworks on the river on Friday nights.  Gryphon is AMAZING, and is accross the street from a cool art store.  All the good stores are closed on sundays!

You can get private tours, by licensed tour guides, that will walk you through the historic district and tell you the stories of what events occurred in each square, and the relevance of certain buildings.  It is truly a great experience.  An ex arranged for one for us several years ago, and it was actually quite romantic — it was just my ex, the tour guide, and me, and the tour guide was able to customize the tour based on our specific interests.

Oh!  And if you like spicy food  and drinks, while you’re walking down River Street, stop in One-Eyed Lizzies and get a spicy margarita.  Love it!  Plus, open container is legal in the  hisotoric district, so you can carry your drink with you as you walk around, and when it runs out, get another to continue walking!

sochic:  Goose Feathers Cafe and Bakery has amazing breakfast.  It is always crowded, but you will be served and seated.

Clary’s has amazing diner food!

Ghost Tours: We have done several and my favorite has been Blue Orb Zombie Tour (we got some crazy activity on this one).  It’s not about zombies!!!

If you like beer, you have to go to Moon River Brewing, their food is great too!

Have fun, it’s my favorite American city destination.
