Doesn’t your hotel include a transfer? Or at least can arrange safe transfer for you.

@alivoo01:  Don’t worry – we went to Jamaica for our honeymoon this past October and it was just fine.  The poltical unrest you hear about on TV is very contained.  As for as transportation goes, let the airport get you a taxi and then ask your hotel for their recommendations.  They have travel excursion packages you can buy that include transportation.

Good luck and have fun!

You purchase private transfers ahead of time so you don’t have to worry about finding a reputable driver in Jamaica. This will also save you from the timeshare presentation people that will offer you free or cheap transfers but will take you to a high pressure time share sales pitch meeting first. Also if you are planning on going to Negril and Ocho Rios you can plan your excursions ahead of time to reduce worry and know that you are paying for the real deal.
