@cowgirlace:  I can’t even imagine.  I’ll be on self-imposed bedrest for the last month now that I know this can happen…;)

I had my grandparents 65th wedding aniversary party Out of Town a month before my due date and I couldn’t make it.  Two weeks prior I traveled out of town for Labor Day and on the way there my right arm went numb.  We stopped every hour too and walked around but that didn’t help.  On the way home we stopped every 30 mins.  I got a little light headed on the ride home so we stopped at a Walgreens and did a little browsing for 20 mins.

After that episode I decided there was no way I’d make my grandparents party with it being even closer to my due date.  It was hard to miss out on it. My grandmother has stage 4 cancer and this will be their last anniv.  So we ended up having something later so that I could celebrate with them.

If I were you just say that you plan to go and see how you are feeling.  The week before my due date my back hurt so bad and I was so huge that I didn’t feel like going anywhere but my house.

My advice is to do your research, but it could be fine. My Future Sister-In-Law went on vacation 8 hours away in a place with less than stellar hospitals and lots of rural travel 3 weeks before her due date. She was huge, not the most comfortable, but didn’t want to miss the family beach trip. It depends on how much you are able to do/how the pregnancy goes, but in her case it was fine.

I am extremely set on delivering at the hospital that my Dr. is associated with, so if it were me, I’d see if he could move the party up if at all possible.

Also, I was born a few weeks early…it happens!

As long as you are feeling up to it I would go. Just take what you would need with you. If for some reason you are not feeling up to traveling then I’m sure your family will understand.

I’m planning on taking DH out of town for his birthday which is 1 month before our due date and we will be going a 4 hour drive.

See how you feel closer to then, let your dad know that you’ll be checking with your doctor the week before and making a decision.

My neice just arrived at 37weeks,2days, so babies do come early!
