@pinkrose23:  1 hour was my absolute max, and that was pushing it.  I have traveled further for a wedding though.  20 minutes should be fine.  One thing to consider is the liklihood of traffic – I considered a venue right on the other side of the metro area from my Church, but I knew that traffic could change an easy 20 minute ride to a frustrating hour plus drive.

@pinkrose23:  1 hour was the absolute max I was willing to consider, and for that it would have had to be an absolutely amazing venue that offered a great deal. The distance between our ceremony and reception sites is about 30 minutes with traffic. We are having the Catholic gap, so there’s not much worry about people not being able to make it. The distance actually helps, I think, because at least 30 mins of the gap will be driving, so people won’t just be sitting around.

45 to 60 minutes. It’s not the drive to the reception that concerns me, but the length of the drive home or back to the hotel after the reception when you are tired.

@pinkrose23:  ~20 minutes should be fine. I think that’s what I usually end up driving between church and reception.

you will be fine with 20 minutes.  i would say no more than 30ish minutes.

i’ve never been to wedding where the ceremony and reception were in different venues.

ETA: now that I think about it, once about 10 years ago.
