Thank GOD none of my tenants were injured. One had to be rescued by the fire department because the tree took out the stairway to the 2nd floor. If the tree had come down 10′ to the right, he would have been killed.
They had to bring out a crane to get the tree of the house, and they just told me they accidentally knocked down the chimney and it fell on the gas meter so now there’s a gas leak.
Note to all you renters, GET RENTAL INSURANCE!!! My tenants just moved in July 1 and called to get their policy last week. They are 100% covered for relocation and property replacement costs. My insurance will cover the damage to the house, but they would have been SOL.
What a crazy weekend!

@CanAmBride: Holy shit. I’ve seen a tree fall on houses before, but never what it looks like inside. So glad no one was injured either. Was it a storm that made it fall?

How scary!!! Glad everyone is ok!!

No storm. Perfectly clear night and perfectly healthy tree. The tree company can’t figure out what made it fall, but the entire root system came up. They also said this is the “worst damage they have ever seen in the 15 years they’ve been doing tree removal

I absolutely love trees, but around the house with huge trees scare me. I’m so happy that no one was injured and they had renters insurance. That is very scary!

Renter’s insurance is so inexpensive, so totally worth every penny!!

Oh my gosh. So glad everyone is alright and insured. Maybe I’ll show Fiance this picture to convince him that some of our “pretty” trees need to come down before they destory our house.

Glad your tenant is ok and everyone was insured. Gives me chills just looking at the damage.

Good lord! That is insane! This is making me think twice about leaving the trees alone and leaving it to chance that are near my house that look rotted but may or may not hit the house if it fell…. glad everyone is ok!
