My Fiance and I have been together for a very long time and we (I am) are finally planning the wedding, but since I am in graduate school and he supports the two of us it has been difficult. We have a bubget of 5000 and we wanted something very trendy even loungeeee (I kno that is not a word). Well I have been looking and I found something within the budget but its definately not trendy. Does anyone have any ideas for affordable trendy venues in the NY area for 80-90 people.
Thanks for any ideas

Can you explain what you mean by “trendy”? I mean, I’m sure there are tons of trendy places, but they aren’t necessarily your style? What is your style? And what’s your approximate budget?

Thanks for your response,
To start my budget is 5000 and my idea of trendy is a loungue or even a small restaurant with plenty of ambient lighting, with candles of even colored track lighting. We are a very relaxed couple who love nightlife so something that centers around that but still romantic would be perfect. Veganglam I hope that gives you a better picture. Your thoughts are appreciated.

While I can’t necessarily list specific places, I can give you some thoughts to consider…
It can be tough to pay for grad school and a wedding, so it’s good that you’re allowing yourself to budget carefully. Honestly, if you want to do anything in NYC and are including the cost of dress/flowers/cake, etc in your budget, you will likely have to have very creative ways to do all this.
Maybe you could seek out trendy restaurants you like, and they could provide you with a limited rental/room. A friend of mine rented a space in a restaurant and everyone chose amongst 3 or 4 menu options. I don’t know the cost, but that could be more affordable than a caterer. (For what it’s worth, 90 people w/ $5000 is about $55 a person, which seems do-able if you’re focusing on just a meal).
As far as trendy places, Time Out NY is a great resource for good restaurants in NYC. That may be a good way to seek out the style of restaurant you want, then you can talk with them to see what can be arranged. 🙂

🙂 They also have a good website! http://newyork.timeout.com/section/restaurants-bars I’d imagine typing in “trendy NYC restaurants” into google would get you some good results. 😉

nymag.com/weddings is also a great resource
i think for this amount of people and this price, you are definitely going to be better off with a restaurant…Campo is Italian on the uws and could definitely accomodate this group in this price range
