I second Olga.

She did an amazing job, she gave me a sweatheart neckline and turned my zipper into corset along with shortening and bustle points for an extremely reasonable price.

She is usually really busy so I recommend you call her early.  Last year in February she was booked through August or something crazy like that.  Good luck!

My wedding is in June as well and I just went to see Olga for an estimate last week.  She’s putting extra boning in my jcrew dress, maybe adding an internal elastic to hold it up, hem, bussle & ironing for a little over $100.  I’ll go in for a fitting 2.5 weeks before the wedding then pick it up 2 days before.

I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews and impressed so far.  She works out of her home and you wouldn’t think its the right place when driving up, but she’s worth it.

Does anybody know how long Olga usually takes for alterations? I just called her today, February 6, 2013 as my wedding is on October 20, 2013. She set up our first fitting for September 20, 2013 which is only 1 month in advance. Is this normal? I always thought that fittings need to start 2-3 months before the wedding? But I know she has such good reviews so I don’t want to question her! 🙂

@willwork4shoes:  It depends on what you think you need to have done. Olga is amazing!!!! I ordered my dress is January, it came in mid-June, and my first fitting was in July (my wedding was in September). I asked to have it a little earlier because I planned on doing bridal portraits, but then ran out of time. My alterations were done in a matter of about 2 weeks.

I love how Olga is pretty much the go-to woman around here. I’m going to her in September and all this build up is exciting. 🙂

Wow, I just called her today and she is booked up through the end of the year! Crazy!

She recommended someone in Sanford for me that she used to work with – has anyone heard about Marina?

@Minnow:  I booked her September 2012 and she already had over 60 people (she assigns you a number). Her schedule for September 2012 was almost packed already then! I’m glad I called so far ahead of time, that’s crazy.

@MrsFutureG:  Eek! I feel like I’m running out of options! I had no idea I would have to book a tailor so far in advance! She must be a popular lady!

I have a tailor I go to regularly for my work clothes just down the street, but I don’t know if she regularly does bridal alterations. My dress doesn’t need a lot, just a tiny bit of taking in or adjusting here and there.

Has anybody used a non-Olga tailor in the area? 😀

@Minnow:  If you’re willing to drive to Charlotte, you could try Anna’s Alterations.  They have a storefront (2 actually, I think), and they’re very good.  I grew up in Charlotte and have lots of friends who got married in Charlotte and used Anna’s.  They’re very good.  They’re the only tailor that my mom trusts with her stuff (they most recently did some major overhaul on a dress for her that she wore to my brother’s wedding).
