(Closed) TRIED ON DRESSES FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! NOT AWFUL!!! gush and pic heavy

  • poll: which do you prefer on me?

    Dress 1, the one in the pic is too small, imagination required!!!

    Dress 2, at least a size too big in the pic.

    Neither, i should go with something less curve hugging.

    I really like the second one and I think you look great in it! BUT I think you should still find somewhere to try on at least one ballgown dress. If you don’t you may regret it later, since that was what you originally wanted.

    I honestly don’t like either.

    I don’t think that’s the right silhouette for you.

    I think you’re close, but no cigar.  A fit and flare would probably be a perfect choice but the dresses you show us here are more of a mermaid shape that have a very clealy defined flare mid-thigh.  A softer fit and flare would work so much better, IMO.  One that starts just below your hips.  You’re a gorgeous girl and your curves are rockin’ but I do think the mermaid silhouette just makes your curves look too harsh/prominent.

    You’re figure is quite hourglass, which the mermaid overexaggerates. I don’t think you need to go all the way to an Aline if you didn’t like them, but maybe you should go for something in the fit-and-flar or trumpet range instead of mermaid. You’ll get a similar look, but because the flar will start higher (somewhere along the thigh instead of at or below the knee), the effect will be less severe.

    Of the two, I prefer the shape of the first dress, but the seem at the top of the mermaid is really distracting and makes you look even more exaggerated. I’d find one that only has princess seems.

    I agree with KristenGettingMarried, I’m not loving the mermaid silhouette (but I generally don’t like that shape). I think a fit and flare would look wonderful on you. Oh, and your hair is awesome!

    The color and material of those 2nd two is all wrong. The reason they look cheap is because the material is gross and your skin tone favors creamier colors.

    I agree with @KristenGotMarried:  &

    @mrsSonthebeach: . An A-line might not work, but something with a less drastic mermaid will be softer. The fabrics of the first 2 are fantastic and the satin is great on you.

    If I were you, I’d try on a cream/champagne colored satin fit and flare

    @janetsnakehole:  Okay so I love both shapes of the new ones on you, especially the second one.  All you need is a mermaid crinoline to push the skirt out and BAM.  perfection.  I think these silhouettes are much, much more flattering and actually make you look so much slimmer than the mermaid.

    Okay, the ones in the second post are worse (mostly fabric, which I can hardly see past to look at the shape). Good luck with your continued search. Your dress is out there just waiting for you to find it!

    @KristenGotMarried:  +1.

    I don’t like those particular DB dresses because of the fabric, like you mentioned, but I think that silhouette is very flattering on you.  I think somewhere in the fit and flare arena would be great for you.  The sweetheart neckline is beautiful on you, and wow, your hair looks awesome!
