So over a year ago I saw a picture of my aunt in her wedding dress and I thought it was so lovely. The top was lace with little sleeves and I love lace and sleeves. I told her I wanted to try it on.
Today she dug it out so my mother, another aunt who wore the same dress and I went over. I have tried on my mother’s dress as well but it is very dated. My aunt’s dress is a bit more modern.
Anyway, it was a little tight but I finally tried it on and it was so pretty. I really do love it but it could use minor changes to modernize it even more.
I’m not even engaged yet but it was still a wonderful experience. What do you think?

@marhino: I think you look perfect in it. Whats the date on it? What’s the fabric?

@FauxPas2012: Thank you! She wore it in 1973. It’s lace up top and the skirt looks like organza to me. She also has the original petticoat and veil.

I think it’s awesome! I honestly don’t think you’d have to do a whole lot to modernize it (if you wanted to). Very pretty! And the veil looks great too.

@marhino: That doesn’t look like 1973, it’s far more classic. Those 1970’s dress (and my best friend got married in 1973 so that tells you how long I’ve been around the planet) had the typical high neck, long- sleeved lace dress.
You should seriously think about using this dress.

That is such a pretty, sweet dress! I’ve seen a few episodes of the “Something Borrowed” show on TV where they remake old wedding dresses… and I’ve marveled at how over-the-top some of the vintage styles look. This one seems to buck the trend in the best way possible!
I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it!

@marhino: Goodness, that looks awesome on you! Almost a perfect fit, and the length looks nice even. Well done, auntie!
