So, I received my birdcage veil and fascinator in the mail yesterday, and I just had a little session in the bathroom, trying it on with different hair looks, etc. I’m disappointed. 🙁 First, I think I ordered the length too long. I want it to end between my nose and lips and in order for it to do that, there is too much slack on top. Second, I feel like the shape of it lays flat on my forhead and face, and therefore flattens my side swept bangs.
This is probably my fault because I should’ve been more specific on the length when I tried them on at the boutique where I purchased it. At the time, I tried one on that was too short- I felt like I was trying to pull it down constantly just for it to be where I wanted it. The person who helped me just figured a length that would be good for me and wrote it on the order.
Anyway, I’m just venting. But I’d like to know if any of you ladies wore a birdcage veil, and if you experienced any of these issues? Thanks =)

can you try pulling the veil more towards the back and fluffing it up a bit more, do you have pix of it so we can get a visual?

I sooooo want a birdcage veil, so I’m looking forward to other Bees’ advice about them.

I don’t have pics, but I am going to see if I go back to the boutique so they can work it with me. I wonder if they can shorten it? I mean… I don’t think it would be a big deal, it’s sewn on to the comb with what looks like clear fishing wire… hmm
I hope I figure this out. 🙁 I have my heart set on this style veil, but I’m scared it might just not look good on me? Or maybe I’m being to critical.

I bet it will look great, don’t worry!

I will be going in to the boutique sometime soon. They gladly offered to help me out, and even exchange the veil for a shorter one if I’d like. By The Way, I got it from Melody Ginn from Emma’s Bridal Boutique/birdcageveils.com. They are wonderful! I’ll take pics when I go!

yes I agree it seems like it should be an easy fix!

Honestly – I wasn’t head of heels with my birdcage that I ordered on Etsy … but after my hair trial this weekend I feel much better. She was able to manipulate it better and use a few carefully placed bobbypins to get it to stay in place.

I had teh same problem with my bangs. They are made to be manipulated with bobby pins to get them to lie just right. So no worries.

Yes, you’re so right! That’s what they suggested at the boutique. Sure enough I tried it at home, BIG difference. I’m stoked. 🙂
