- Wedding: November 2014
Hey guys! Some of you oldies may remember me. I got all the way up to #4 on the waiting list two years ago. Here I am today, sitting on my bed, looking at a stack of invitation samples I got in the mail. We’ve “set a date”. We’ve picked a few venues. Now, I’m looking at invitations.
Guess what. Still no ring on this finger! (That’s a lie. I wear a promise ring I got back in 2008.)
This all started up again back in January. I couldn’t sleep on night, so I was checking Facebook, blah blah blah. Oh. My best friend from high school got engaged. Ok. Breathe. Nope. I cried…and sobbed…and yelled at my SO for an hour about the unfairness of the universe. They had only been dating 3 years compared to our 7! Honestly, I’d been pretty good about no longer pushing an engagement up this point. I had graduated college back in May ’12, and we’d moved in together in June ’12. He’ll be graduating December ’13. We’d decided to just wait until it got closer to his graduation. Makes sense, right? We didn’t want to get married until after school gets finished, anyway.
So…things quieted down again after friend got engaged. I would send SO pictures of rings I liked occasionally. We’d joke about “when we get married”. Then, BAM! Another bump. Friend asked me to be her Maid/Matron of Honor. Cue wedding dress shopping, visiting, venues, looking at cakes, and buying invitations.
SO and I had a talk, and we’ve decided to get married November 2014. I have a ring budget of $700. So, still no ring, but a much better outlook on the whole “waiting” situation!
